I don't have a bachelor's degree in fact i am 15 and still in highschool, but i am still going to answer it!

I think the greatests threat the United States face will be a Nucluer bomb attack, and the junkie shelters they have around the USis not going to help us becuase half of the old junkie shelters are falling in and r in basements of schools so the United states need to build better shelters for the people. I also think that global warming will take effect in a 100 years or so. Or sum horrible plague will wipe half of us out. But first i belive will home the bomb attack and some will survive and then because not having enough food and also after the bombs the United States will be a gross and germ breeding place that a plague will start.
The ones that do survive thier generations to come will die because of global warming.

How about that for an answer? I might confuse you but hey o well. And that is what i think will be the Greatest Threat(s) facing the United States.

The erosion of our Constitution. We are so comfortable being Americans that we don't realize how fragile this country really is. We are only protected as citizens by two documents, The Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Once we let the government chip away at our civil liberties we the people lose our real power in this country. As a whole we are more powerful then the government. That is why when any group gets to strong like Unions, our government weakens them. The government is more scared of the American working class people then they are of outside threats. We get them elected we pay their salary we are the true straight of this country. The only thing that we are not is involved. We have become lazy do to the life style we get to enjoy as Americans. The government exploits our laziness, hell they love it. They can get away with the Patriot Act because if you ask 80% of Americans what it is they cant tell you. That is the power our government has and then know it. We the few have a greater responsibly to make sure the facts get out to public because if we let them, our government would not tell us anything, that goes for Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. Always fight for my rights because I will always fight for yours.

The US is sort of like the Roman Empire...in it's last throes. I live here, I work here, and I love this country. But it is imploding in it's blind narcissism and while other countries are growing up we are getting more dumb and childish and self-indulgent by the day (just like Rome). The US has been the big guy for too long and has forgotten that big guys get their asses kicked....eventually (can we say China, India, evenutally Russia, etc). The other disease we have that is making this inevitable is the general belief amongst many naive, childish American 'adults' that self-criticism and/or criticism of the government makes one "UN Patriotic". The opposite is true. Without that built in self-monitoring and government watching we are all ******. Just ask George Washington, Tom Jefferson, Ben Franklin, etc...what they thought of the importance of a free press and the need to criticism a government out of control and utterly arrogant and self-serving

Environmental degradation on such a grand scale that it renders quality of life unbearable. Sure terroism could impact the country in terms of destablising the econmomy and creating a climate of fear but in reality most acts of terroism would be equivalent to poking an anthill with a stick - nothing compared to the imapcts of air pollution, climate change, soil erosion and habitat loss could have on the US's ability to sustain itself. Unfortunately, the current administration has only been contributing to this problem, instead of using its vast resources to come up with an action plan to prevent it.

I think the greatest danger comes from our tendency to see others as enemies instead of potential friends. As a result we make enemies where none need exist. This stems from the need of our leaders to make us fearful and afraid in order to gain our support. This causes two problems, we create enemies unnecessarily, and we divert needed needed resources from real problems such as over population, the environment, and health issues.

Economic threat would be biggest one. It can be avoided if we find alternate technology to the fuel/gas, find innovative ways to replace the jobs we are loosing.. if not we will loose our jobs to China and India and then be the followers of the new technology.
