It is a totalitarian regime without multi-party system. Why do you think that the neighbour countries of the USA can be dictated by it. This attitude itself is negation of democracy. In India there are two provincial governments where Communists have been ruling; but we have rightist and centrist parties ruling in the Federal centre. Democracy is a matter of attitude, rather a form of government.

JFK and the bay of pigs fiasco has put america off the idea. Castro is reasonably popular in Cuba, and he's not THAT bad a dictator, except if you annoy him. Cuba isn't a third world country like it was when he came into power - it has some of the best free healthcare in the world for instance. However, Cuba may abandon communism and the one party state once their charismatic leader loses power, through his present illness for instance.

Along with other issues, Europe would be pissed out of their minds, as well as most of South and Central America.
On top of that, does Cuba have oil? No.
So in the end, you have a lot of financial, military and political expenditure, for nothing much in return.
Also, if the US was so anti-communist, they would not trade with China. If it would be because of ‘humanitarian reasons’ why does the US support so many governments that do worse to their citizens?

Because Castro has not posed a threat to us in 40 years whereas Saddam Hussein was developing WMD's and financing terrorism against our country.
Our job is not to go around the world cleaning up other countries' messes - even if they are abusing & oppressing their own people like Castro and Saddam. The point that we get involved is when they become a burgoning national security threat.

By the time the Soviets fell everybody figured Fidel only had a few years to live anyway. So why bother? The old goofball just wouldn't die. Year after year he managed to stay healthy and as evil as ever. Perhaps there is something to the saying only the good die young LOL.

Is there any oil in Cuba?
Who cares?
Edit: why do we allow China (the most populous country in the world) to remain Communist?
Have you thought this through? Or are you just trolling?

Cubans are not stupid, and whilst that guy finally croaks, i think of you will see a clean Cuba...if no longer, hiya, that's an island, who cares? I desire em the main suitable, and there is no regulation asserting they must be cutting-part, and that i'm hoping sometime all that stuff will all exchange. yet, lower back, that's an island, devoid of destiny in the famous international till they build one...and, that's a hurricane magnet.

the united states doesnt own cuba therefore they have no right to go in and do anything or change anything. cuba is a free country.

Because Cuba has no oil like Iraq does, therefore, it is not necessary for us to get our hands dirty to solve a problem that we will not get anything out of solving.. I hope that answers your question.
