I know it is a small thing but here in Canada citizens can write to their federal politicians and the Prime Minister by throwing a letter into the mail with no stamp. This encourages everyone to let the politician know how you feel and think about issues. Does the United States have a similar system? No wise cracks about the cost of postage please, for some it does matter. This is only true for Federal politicians, provincial politicians can only be contacted by mail with stamps.

Too many innocent children and people are dying in the middle east everyday. Politicians tend to brush off this as collateral damage and acceptable in a fight against terrorists; unfortunate, but acceptable. Is this right and/or moral?

The Republican party is attempting to raise the minimum wage level but is tying it to a tax break for the rich. Aired on News Hour tonight. This is a marriage of bills in which the two must be taken together as a whole. In order for the minimum wage to be increased the tax break for the rich must be attached to it in order to become law.

Don't get 'Edna on me'.
Here's a definition:

An ownership interest in the minerals contained in a particular parcel of land, with or without ownership of the surface of the land. The owner of mineral rights is usually entitled to either take the minerals from the land himself or receive a royalty from the party that actually extracts the minerals.

So that means I own the surface of the soil and above. But not too far, because there is some Gov. Air space that's not mine, in the sky.

In the early 1940's President Truman insisted that Great Britain allow the creation of the State of Israel w/in the UK's Palestinian territory. He did this w/out considering that the US would be a far better place for an Israeli State to co-exist with America's secular system (as, for example, The Amish do) and certainly better than the worst area possible. The UK (wrecked and bankrupted by WW2) effectively had no choice.
Before the majority of the world's oil supplies go up in smoke and we potentially see the build up of alliances potentially leading to WW3, should the US with all it's land and empty space insist that rather than fighting to keep Israel in a part of the world that is becoming untenable for them to continue living in we give them a choice of moving to virgin US. land or fighting their own war?
