is it true or false that in the impeachment process, the Senate brings the charges, and the House of Representatives tries the case?

Do you think the government hide things from us? Like secret meetings, maybe new sightings on planets, we never went to the moon, viruses, new technologies etc...

I've seen that game show "Deal or No Deal" and my stepmom told me that the government may actually take out as much as 50% or even as high as 60% in taxes if the dollar amount is like over $80,000 or $150,000 or whatever.

How much would they take out in taxes, really? And would it be a one time thing or would they next year take out even more taxes from that same dollar amount?

I had an "exchange" (not really) with a supposedly intelligent and educated (in the liberal definition) person recently that thought that the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protected every weapon EXCEPT 'assault rifles'. Their reasoning was that since assault/military weapons were not actually MENTIONED, then "obviously" the founders of our country did not mean to refer to them, or to modern military hardware. It was an amazing "interpretation", to say the least. Thomas Jefferson (the penman) and many others did mention elsewhere during their lifetimes that the common people must have the means to defend themselves against (government) tyranny, and even had the right to overthrow a tyrannical despot. How else would this be accomplished without parity in force (weaponry) and power?

I am a Pennsylvania Republican but I voted for John Casey(Democrat) because Rick Santorum was going too far to the right for me. When they won the two houses, I remember all the celebrations they had all over the country that huge changes were coming. I remember watching the night they got sworn in and watching Nancy Pelosi promise to "work with" the president. I have been watching the news everyday since then and all it seems like they have accomplished is raising the minimum wage. It seems like the last 3.5 months, all they have been busy doing is writing a bill that they knew the president would veto just to "prove a point" But "proving a point" doesn't change anything. And how is writing a bill that they knew the president would veto "working with?" I wanted to improve the situation in Iraq and I though that voting differently would maybe change things but now it just seems like everyone is acting like little kids dragging their feet to prevent anything from getting done.

Insanity Personified : Nancy Pelosi

When questioned about recent stock market highs she responded "Only the rich benefit from these record highs. Working Americans, welfare recipients, the unemployed and minorities are not sharing in these obscene record highs".

"There is no question these windfall profits and income created by the Bush administration need to be taxed at 100% rate and those dollars redistributed to the poor and working class".

When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied "We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long ways to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as "Americans"."

Is she for real?

Isn't that the dumbest thing you've heard? Have yanks lost all respect for the Highest office in America? An office most of them could never even dream of achieving in their own lives. Why so petty and jealous?

Follow the money--and the reasoning for anything the President proposes becomes perfectly clear. Apparently bankrupting an S&L is the necessary qualification to receive a multi-million dollar no-bid contract--being the President's brother Neil helps a little too!!

Of course he wants Congress to renew his No Child Left Behind legislation--Why would he want his brother to be unemployed again? Nevermind the program is nothing but an absolute failure. It's a perfectly legal racket to feed the Bushie Businesses who are profiting from it's inception.

Here's a teacher's breakdown of NCLB's inadequacies.

The state House and Senate approved separate resolutions apologizing for slavery Tuesday — one day after Confederate Memorial Day, an official state holiday.

"An apology goes a long way," said Sen. Hank Sanders, a Democrat from Selma who sponsored his chamber's resolution. "Some of us can't begin to heal until we have an apology. Some of us can't move into reconciliation until we have an apology."

Neither resolution will become official unless approved by the other chamber and signed by the governor. The House passed its resolution with an unrecorded voice vote; the Senate's vote was 22-7.
