I have to write an essay on the following question:

The sow's head and the conch shell each wield a certain kind of power over the boys. In what ways do these objects powers differ? In what ways is the Lord of the Flies a novel about power? Aboutt the power of the symbols? Aboutt the power of a person to use symbols to control a group?

what exactly is the question asking?

and for those of you who have read the book...do any of you have any ideas/opinions for an answer?

please help me! thanks!

correct me if i am wrong, but isn't the federal government's job to protect america and her interests from terrorism?

if so, then why the hell are the giving out welfare and social services. they have gotten in business they should be out of. They should be monitering terrorists and updating security.

These people have supported the country, and state, bought homes, raised, educated children, and now they want to retire with dignity. We are the richest country in the world, and we force our old people to live in shame. Many can't afford health care, food, home ownership. In other words this GREAT COUNTRY SPONGES OFF THE OLD.

Each state has its own government to deal with state issues. However, sometimes states have an issue passed by voters which is later put down by the federal government, such as; medical marijuana, defining marriage, ect. If states where given all power to govern some could ban abortion, outlaw homosexuality, and put the ten commandments in every state building. Likewise some states could alow stem cell research, give gay couples the same rights as heteros, and hold a clear division between church and state.

It seems to me that the federal government isn't doing much for the people of the U.S. these days. Why not get rid of them? They have amased a debt that could simply go away if they were disbanded. No one would have to pay the federal income tax that is used solely to pay the interest on the debt the feds keep expanding with their war.

Each state could cooperate with one another as the EU does for a unified currency. Then have military/rescue trained units to unite in crisis.
