I've read about the choices Canadians would make. What about Americans? Do you know any of our former Prime Ministers and if not who would you personally chose to run the Canadian Government?

I know that Fidel Castro was a friend of Prime Minister Trudeau and even visited Canada. I also know that Canadians frequently go to Cuba on holiday. Would the United States ever do the same?

I think it's a great idea as long as the families of the President and Congress go first. We'd hardly ever go to war if that were the case.

Why do they subject other countries to military occupation, and maintain army bases in over 160 countries? What is 'free' and 'democratic' about one country acting as the police of the world, with secret prisons? And why does the government do everything in its power to maintain the status quo domestically, when they could seriously improve the standard of living? In free countries, there is no prejudice, there is no ignorance, there is no conditioning, manipulation, fearmongering...there is healthcare for all...there is not 1/6 of the pop'ln on the poverty line...there are jobs...there is tolerance of religions...there are opporutnies to go to school and not have to pay a debt the rest of your life....
Essentially, how many people believe that American 'freedom' is just a facade?

What are your views on government surveillance. I think it is right for the NSA and other assosiations similar to intercept e-mails, wiretap phone calls, and to put out surveillance cameras. I wan't to know why people are AGAINST government surveillance.

The supreme court is commonly thought to be "above politics." However, one can argue that the appointment of Supreme Court justices is political.

a) Identify 3 characteristics of Supreme Court nominees and discuss how each characteristic has been politically relevant during the appointment process.

b) Identify 2 methods that have been used by interest groups to influence the appointment process. Explain how each of these methods has been used to influence that process.

The 1st link below shows the federal government is abandoning autopsy procedures to determine if there's a connection between micronized dust from 9/11 and the deaths of the first responders who risked their down at Ground Zero.

If you stand by your country, and you stand by the heroes that day, watch the second link - a film which shows how these heroes have been treated since 9/11. It only takes a half hour. They earned it.

Are we to forget these heroes? Is it not our responsibility to give those who risked their lives the support they deserve? what can we do to stop this injustice?

Given the choice between the United States of America and the European Union, which do you think has the most going for it culturally/poltically/economic... etc?

There is a view among many Europeans that Americans are less culturally sophisticated and and "gung-ho" about war, while Americans often view "old Europe" as being appeasers or arrogant.

From a personal perspective it would seem that the USA is better for finding work and keeping what you earn, but Europe is better for avoiding the kind of religious fundamentalism that is prevalent in many American States.
