Well, let's see.
9/11 over 3,000 people died
Invaded Afghanistan, which should have remained the focus throughout. We don't hear much about the Afghanistan casualties, be they US troops, allied troops, civilians, nor enemies. Osama Bin Laden still roams free.
Invaded Iraq, nearly 2,900 US troops have died, probably over that as of today. It's been reported that upwards of 200,000 Iraqi civilians, haven't heard in a long time how many allies have died, and I haven't heard how many enemies have died. We also don't know how many prisoners of war have been killed at various US prisons. I'm not so sure that the men and women who have died from friendly fire have been counted properly as casualties of war. You may as well count Saddam, because he has been sentenced to death.
Katrina-It is estimated that around 3,000 people lost their lives from one of the worst natural disasters of modern times. I do understand that Bush could not have prevented this catastrophe from happening, but the handling of the situation was deplorable. And sorry to tell you, he did know how bad it was down there, Air Force One was flown at low altitude to see the damage firsthand, against his report that he had no idea. He didn't actually set foot in New Orleans, instead he shook hands with people in Mississippi, which was also devastated, saying that Brown was doing a fantastic job. Which we all know was bull. We never heard the actual total of deaths there, so we'll never really know for sure, how many died that horrible day. I suspect the number is much higher than what's been reported. I think that's why they've chosen to relocate so many of the living all over the country and split up families in the process. So no one can find out. The number would also probably go higher if all the rubble was sifted through, but until that happens the number is unknown.
To your answer-300,000 plus, is my closest estimation, but that goes up every day.
If we get out of Iraq soon, which realistically is not possible for the next few months at the very least. The criteria by which we may claim victory or defeat is in the tally. We may have to count the deaths of our troops, allies, and civilians, to those that have died fighting directly against the USA, but we must do that count on a country by country basis, because we are fighting TWO WARS, one in Iraq, and one in Afghanistan. Let's count 'em up and find out decisively if we are ahead or they are. If we're ahead, and I somehow doubt we are, then let's get the F outa there.

you make it sound so negative. look at the bright side, there are corporations with ties to the White House that have profited billions and billions on this.

At least Bush didn't have to lie about sex for those people to die. It was only a handful of lies to all Americans to allow for some good American Corporations to profit. It's not like anyone had to suffer for these profits.

And when you point out all that gloom and doom about people dying , for the good of the cause, I might add - you neglect to point out that it helped the DOW reach record high numbers. War profiteering is good for the economy. It also makes those 20% of Americans that own 80% of the stocks happy.

so try and be a little positive here.....

Are you asking how many Americans or total for the whole deal? If it's Americans, then I would say about 1/4 the amount of innocent people that live in the countries we have invaded.

Unknown- who's keeping score " i think we need to include other leaders in that tally also"... like Saddam, and the like and what about china?... they kill there own 15,000 a year by all estimates, not to mention what weapons they supply to the world and Iran now there is another!...how many there or in the future by them"is Israel next"? You know why don't you instead of focusing on bush why don't you focus on Clinton and carter! "The original architects of this problem to begin with" they created this through there ineptness of foreign policy and bush inherited this mess from them!..In reality if people die blame a liberal they usually are the catalyst!
