Government - July 2006

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Government

Say you live in Oregon, and you feel like the federal government is screwing up the united states..and you and all your Oregonian Brothers and sisters hold a vote and the people overwhelmingly decide they want their independance from the federal government..and with this freedom Oregon could decide on their own cool rules...

I think so. I hate that credit will be the leading reason for the next economic crash heading our way.
I hate to say it but people should not buy so much, if they cannot afford it.

Having said that, the other side of the coin is that the companies that offer credit and then punish you for going over (when their computer is programmed to ALLOW you to go over) are fairly well at fault as well!
If you have a limit, then you should be denied (by LAW!), from exceeding it!
If they allow your going over, it should be a statutory increase of your credit line!
I am against outrageous bank fees too!
over draft, and then extended over draft fees and overdraft for THEIR charges!
these type of defrauding the public should be ended!
If you write bad checks then you pay! it is a crime everywhere, but it should also be a crime to force you over by the only system that you can use!

I also do not support free college for high school drop outs, when so many cannot get a better (higher) education BECAUSE they have a diploma!
I want to shut down 'entitlements'. this is a legacy from the great depression and it is sinking the ship!
WORK OR STARVE! Obviously, there are exceptions, but we should really be able to trim the welfare roles a good 85%. (race is not an issue, but it ALWAYS is made into an issue by dems!)
a permanent mandate that ALL corporations that import to the USA, must produce here, in the USA, 50% of all of their products sold here.
I would want to prohibit the export, to any country, any natural resource that we import (ie. oil, lumber)
if we have an abundance, then we do not need to import!
I propose import duties on natural resources and manufactured raw materials that we also make here to a level (tax + plus product cost) equalling domestic costs (steel, plastics , base components etc...)
this stops dumping, an unfair trade practice

Because the American system of government is restrained by the two party system and some stupid set up called the electoral college it seems that alot of the voters choice goes down the drain. For a country that calls for democracy in other countries it seems that it really doesn't flourish in America. Has the result of having George W. Bush for President shown Americans anything about their system of voting?

Prisoners only serve half the sentence served on them from a court. IF they were to serve full sentence but have to EARN time to be knocked off, that would amke sense - do you agree??

As you should know, Canada, England, and France are all already socialist, and that government has been proven to have many benefits. Hence the question: Why hasn't the US switched to socialism?

I would like views from both sides, please.

I don't believe in international law, because there is no international democratic law making body nor is there an international authority charged with enforcement of international law.

Personally, I'm hoping McCain runs... he da man and sort of plays neutral ground between Republican and Democrat even though he's Republican by name.
