Forget Bush. Name the last truly competent President that we HAVE had. I think it would have to go back to Truman... Although, I also think that you can't really judge a president until later on down the line. Most of the initiatives a president tries to implement don't come into effect until much later. Some policies have taken 30 years to show their effects.
edit: in reply to the comment that he can't even speak English... Neither can half the country!!! And no, I am not referring to legal or illegal immigrants. I am talking about the rest of the country. Have you listened to people out in public lately? The fact that mcjob is in the dictionary is insulting to the language. There is such thing as a slang dictionary...

No - his whole administration is incompetent - with the exception of Carl Rove, who is an evil genius, but unfortunately, not incompetent. FEMA is obvious, Long term staff scientists are fleeing from the EPA and agents from the CIA...
Condaleza Rice was brought in by Carl Rove to teach Bush about Federal government when he was Governor of Texas and they were looking for a front man. He does not have a interest in national policy - it is all given to him.
The real driving force of the administration are the holdovers from his fathers presidency, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Pearle. The Iraq war should really be called Gulf War Continued, because the decisions to take Saddam out were made (and overruled by Bush Sr.) back then, and they have been waiting for the opportunity to go back ever since.
The foray into Iraq was planned well before 9/11 and piggy-backed on the the retaliation against the Taliban in Afghanistan, where we should have stayed.
In the plans, the Iraqis (as you remember) were supposed to welcome the US as liberators and sell shares of their oilfields on the open market (Halliburton) to generate the funds to rebuild their decayed infrastructure (Halliburton). Shock & awe was all that was needed and it would all be over in a few months. It was also supposed to provide us with a military base to replace the one we took out of Saudi Arabia to help the royal family keep peace with the Wahabi Fundamentalists - the very ones who fund the Taliban.
The whole country recognizes this as incompetence.
And Bush believes the PR of his own administration.

Well now, lets see if we can put a few things in perspective for those among us who are the truly imbecilic, moronic, ignoramuses who think GWB is stupid.
Shall we compare what a stupid guy has done to what any of you have done - don't worry this will take about a second.
Here is a guy who, out of of 300 million people, has been selected twice to lead the country and who serves in the most powerful position of anyone in the country.
The USA is the most powerful, both economically and militarily, country on a planet with over 6 billion people on it. Does that make him the smartest guy on the planet? Probably not. Does it make him smarter than you? Without a doubt.
But let's continue. Shall we?
While you might consider him stupid, he was apparently smarter than the 100 million or so democrats who tried to defeat him in his last 8 elections. Plus, he received higher grades in college than the latest 2 liberal candidates threw up against him.
So, if according to you he is stupid, how has he also accomplished all of these things against people who you must consider smarter than you or why would you vote for them?
I would challenge you to take a look at your own pathetic, monumentally insignificant and truly worthless life and tell us all what you have accomplished in a way of even the most remote comparison.
The purpose of the question is to find exactly where YOU must inevitably rank on the intellectual scale in comparison since you have virtually nothing, either in your past or future, which will come close to a single one of gwb's accomplishments?
Looking at it that way, if you consider him stupid and he has accomplished all of these things, it must kind of make you feel about as insignificant and worthless as a drop of water in the worlds oceans. Or, to put it in terms you can relate to, a piece of cow sh*t in the middle of a 100,000 acre pasture.
Kind of makes you Lliberals feel small or incompetant, doesn't it?

Good question, but invitation for sedition. Keep track of the difference as you look at the answers.
I say, yes. He has been using "Art of War" by Sun Tzu like a playbook and fooling his opposition, every time. No, it's not about being a warmonger. It's a strategy and tactics book.
Sometimes how you look is not as important as what you do, whether anyone sees it or not.
We have several historical Presidents who were very good at looking good, regardless of whether it was good for the country or not.

Do you buy that act of the incompetent President . I don't , not for one minute . His failures are the result of his conservative governing philosophy .To his base , his bumbling folksiness is part of his charm . Bush plays up this image and this image causes the opposition to underestimate his capacities . So they regard him as a complete idiot .. If it's incompetence that's the problem , it's all about Bush . But , if conservatism is the problem , it's all about a set of ideas and a movement .
