Elections - November 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Elections

Since the president is using the state of emergency to fix elections, and jail his political oppenents as well as suspend the constitution...how would the people vote (if they were allowed to) would they be rightwing? moderate? leftwing? or the extremes of either end of the spectrum?

If she does manage to get into office, I fear a lot of her ideas will do away with a lot of the freedoms we enjoy today. As if things havent been getting worse for years anyways, but I think Hillary is going to mean the end of free enterprise and independent thinking in many ways... am I looking at this the wrong way?

He stands for what Republicans used to stand for. Now it just seems like the "Pre-emptive Party" when it comes to the issues. What happened to Republicans?

He is destined to be King of Kings, and the son of God who will soon be ruling us for eternity. No more pain, sorrow, nor crappy man made politicians. Vice President should be Paul and his cabinet will be the 11 disciples. Judas Iscariot will be spending time in the bottomless pit with George Bush, Barry Bonds, OJ Simpson, and Paris Hilton.

his user name is Ismailzali. He asked people to name their top 3 Democratic and Republican candidates.

I was surprised by some of the answers. Many people listed Ron Paul first and Mike Huckabee second and Rudy third for the Republicans. These guys are very far apart from each other on the issues. Similar situations happened on the Democrat side.

For this reason, I encourage everyone to use the candidate calculator provided on the following link.

The calculator takes the TOP 24 ISSUES, lets YOU RANK them by LEVEL of IMPORTANCE to YOU and CHOOSE whether or not you SUPPORT the 24 ISSUES.

Based on this information, the CALCULATOR then compares YOUR DATA to each Candidates’ and gives you a LIST of CANDIDATES RANKED in ORDER by the CANDIDATE that MATCH your VIEWS the MOST.

Please take it and let me know if you were surprised by your matches and who your top 3 matches are! Thank you!

In other words as dumb as Bush &/or Republicans may be and/or sound to Dems, most of America (which doesn't have much more than a community college education) loves what they say.

And the more Dems/libs call them dumb the more that vast majority of Americans like the GOP. So Dems/Hillary, if you want to win that election(s) in 2008 start talking & thinking like a red neck you are doomed to repeat what happened in 2000.

I cant trust her as far as I can throw her! I dont really feel good about any of the candidates, but she is especially distasteful to me! Why does it seem like she is going to win the ticket? Will you vote for her? If not who (liberal) do you trust (they dont have to be big ticket candidates)?

I say we should change the way elections are done. It should be stipulated that candidates (for whatever election--local, state, or federal) be allocated EQUAL portions of funding from the US treasury to fund their campaign. This means that candidates won't have any strings being pulled from the sidelines because they have no obligation to the special interest groups that seek to have their way carried out through the proxy--the potential policy maker.

This also means that candidates can push their ideas and promises with much less ulterior motives, and of course, everyone has an equal footing because of equal funding.

I'm a firm believer of our system of capitalism, but the line between public and private is drawn for a reason, and the two should never mesh.

What do you guys think?

Given the fact the American people are demanding change in government and the way it conducts business, does any single candidate really offer any change for the direction of the country? When the 2008 election is all said and done next November, we'll be a nation that has been governed by the same two families for the past 16 years; Clinton and Bush. Why would this nation want another Clinton for potentially another eight years? If people are really serious about change, then they definitely need to change the way the vote. Any intelligent thoughts on this topic?

Everyone is ranting about Hillary's healthcare plan. The right-wingers say it's socialism repackaged and the liberals are saying it doesn't go far enough.
Is there anywhere that this health proposal is presented in written form where it can be accessed by voters? I'd like to read specifically what it is she wants to do before I make any judgments.

My 28 yr old daughter is now very in to politics. She is interested in the upcoming election. She recently asked me where the best place is to get non-biased information on all of the candidates. It was the "unbiased" that threw me. Any suggestions??
