it might start to teach issues around. human beings asserting he could no longer accomplish something are forgetting how plenty has been unconstitutionally usurped through or delegated to the President. He (Constitutionally) prepares the funds. He can veto spending and unconstitutional charges -- and NAFTA whilst it comes up for reauthorization as is due this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (and he might veto it - none of this week bows and ribbons stuff Obama needs borrowed from the Peru commerce settlement.) He oversees (unconstitutionally) the Fed (to the quantity anybody oversees this inner maximum banking corporation) and appoints its head. He ought to unilaterally pull out of each and all the agreements the presidents over earlier administrations have unilaterally, unconstitutionally positioned us into -- such because of the fact the protection and Prosperity Partnership. He ought to unilaterally revoke all 'signing memos' and unconstitutional presidential orders (and there are various). considering the fact that Congress unconstitutionally delegated 'authority' to combat the 'conflict on terror' he ought to unilaterally declare the conflict over, in want of police artwork against got here upon criminals in the justice gadget, as they're got here upon. i think of that must be a sturdy start up.

If you really want to know , you should check out his campaign website, or better yet, his voting record in congress. As to him being stymied by congress, it is possible, but the current regime didn't let it get in their way and are paving the way for the next president by taking away more and more of our rights. I think that he may be the only hope our country has as he seems to be the only candidate who actually votes what he believes, and doesn't flip flop every other week (what's that about Hils denouncing NAFTA?) . If you want your government to take care of you, provide welfare and social security, health care - he's not the man for you. Remember, these things come with a price, high taxes, a bigger federal deficit (9.12 trillion according to the current clock and adding 1.47 billion per day), and loss of civil liberties(if the govt is paying for your housing, food, and healthcare, they're going to tell you how to live so they can "afford" it). Ben Franklin said , "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety"
The article by Mona Charen is kind of lame because her arguments aren't very good, especially if you put the other candidates through the same wringer.

He is for the people, something that means nothing to our elected leaders of today.
He could fire Congress and write his own executive orders. :) He wouldn't do that, I know.
Mona Charen probably is a college graduate. I'm not, but if I could find her email address, I'd tell her the difference between 'isolationism' and 'intervention'.
I don't understand how following the Constitution is considered 'kooky'. The younger generation has lived this way for so long, they don't know what it would be like to have an honest person running the country. That includes Ms/Miss/Mrs. Charen.

If he is elected, he will end the Iraq War as soon as possible, make it clear that he isn't going to bomb Iran (defusing a bad situation), and stand up to the foreigners who are trying to interfere with America's sovereignty (unlike other candidates, he isn't going to change our tax code just because the WTO tells him to and he actually wants to get rid of the IRS, which the WTO would hate to see).
Domestically, he'd be less powerful, but he could veto all wasteful spending and repeal any unconstitutional executive orders (and there are alot). Beyond that, what he can do depends upon the Congress.

He'll begin making all the changes he wants made, to include abolishing the Federal Reserve (which would collapse the economy), overturning the last 17 amendments, give back the last 37 states, withdrawing from the rest of the world and the UN, and discover that the Presidency can't do any of it.

1) the national debt will cease to exist, much less increase.
2) the troops will be home as fast as yesterday.
3) bye bye unPATRIOT Act.
4) hello constitutional government.
5) he will end the illegal and unconstitutional Federal Reserve monopoly on our currency and default the legitimate printing of asset-backed money (sound money) to congress as outlined in Article 1 Section 8 of the constitution.
6) the Federal Reserve, which is a private bank not affiliated with the government, will no longer be able to circulate notes as though they are as good as gold. For those not aware, a "note" (i.e. Federal Reserve Note) is legally a debt, not an asset. A "note" is an agreement to pay, not a payment.
7) you will have a lot more money in your pocket because we will stop policing the world.
8) the military industrial complex will cry to sleep at night without tax payer's dollars to mop up.
9) the United States will have to focus its attention on fixing domestic problems, rather than creating more problems abroad.
10) we will have a president who has read and understands the constitution.
11) big governement's wasteful spending will come to a swift halt.
12) the federal government will stop trampling your rights.
13) you will be allowed to opt out of social security. that way the government will not spend your money before you get it and you will have a chance at retirement in your lifetime.
14) did I mention Sound Money? google it if you don't know what that is.
15) less federal interference in education.
16) Health care reform - pronto style.
17) affordable health care.
18) very very limited federal government powers.
19) way lower taxes.
this list could go on and on and on. but for the best answers, check out www.ronpaul2008.com

His ideas do make sense. It's a shame the whole election process comes down to a popularity contest - someone should change that!

A lot of what Paul has advocated (eg eliminating income taxation, eliminating the Fed, withdrawing from the international treaties) would require congressional approval. He will struggle to get congress to pass these so not nearly as much will change as his supporters are claiming.

well he will get rid of the fed, for those of you that say it will take congressional approval to do that did Jackson need it to rightfully get rid of the last national bank., he will reverse some of the failed wars on (insert any of the failed wars we have:terror , drugs illiteracy, poverty). and he will bring all our troops home from over the 1000 bases in over the 150+ country's that we have solders in. then he will place the soldiers in area's to protect the boarders and help curb illegal immigration. then he will start the big fight against the house and senate to curb federal waste and over spending.
