Well, actually he was very political and the whole cross thing was pretty much a political statement, but that's probably for another time and place, I'm sure I'd get deleted if I answered this the way I really feel, but yeah, I am sure that Jesus, who was a pretty cool guy, would want us to help the poor. He also had great respect for women, which is more than I can say about some religious leaders. I also hear that he was a problem child...with my own challenges, I have an enormous respect for his mother.

Great question again, xialou, you sure do like stirring the pot, don't you??? :D

What you are saying is very stereotypical. I know many libertarian and liberal Christians who are against the war due to the fact that it goes against a non-interventionist foreign policy. It's ironic in a way, for the last 70 years the democrats have been sending us to wars in WWII(understandable), Vietnam, Korea, Bosnia....and the republicans pulled us out. Today it is much different. The republicans have lost touch with their non-interventionist policies. Ron Paul believes in reducing the federal government on every level such as war, government slavery(high taxes), anti-federal abortion laws, anti-federal gay marriage amendment, for the 2nd amendment(personal, not militia), economic freedom. He is our only hope to save this country from the majority tyranny! He wants to get government out of big business and force the rich to fight for our dollar! Jesus would be a libertarian today! Peace, freedom, anti-slavery, right to choice(unlike the school zones we have today - go to district 374 section 2). And just to let you know must people do not support war. These dumbass, follow whoever's leading them, republicans just want the world to be a better place. Reminds me of the democrats who believe that government is the answer to poverty. Mahahahahaha morons!

Jesus died for the people's sins. He taught the rest of that stuff.

Anyway. What does America have to do with Jesus?

Don't lump us all into the Christian grouping. And don't say that American's support war. Most of us don't.

why does EVERYTHING have to do with christ? even if everything does you have to accept that things have CHANGED in the last two thousand years. We cannot be expected to live by his laws (he by the way was not about protecting christians but only jews "love thy neighbour" is a mistranslation, it means love thy neighbouring jew. he would be turning in his grave, yes his grave, if he knew he started a new religion).

Its this kind of idiocy that makes the world such a dangerous place. If EVERYONE, Christians included just accepted that people are people and should be treated with respect regardless of what they believe then we might actually live in a decent world.

I just love how people tell us what Christians believe when they arent one. So but no Jesus died for us to have eternal life. We fight not just for the sake of keeping our country or democracy intact, but christianity as well. But we should not kill for Jesus though many do. Jesus taught to love your enemies but humans are flawed, we all sin. Jesus died for that. jesus also said, love thy neighbor and i think he would want us to.

i cannot for the life of me believe that a person,no matter who they are could go through all that and turn round and say "father fogive them for they know not what they do" and any father worth his salt would never stand by and allow his son to be murdered and let them get away with it.

Jesus did die for these things but His main purpose was to be the Ultimate Sacrifice for our sins so that those who believe in Him can receive their Salvation and spend eternity with Him. War is a neccessary evil in our world and it doesn't stop us from loving the people, just not supporting them. Jesus does want us to help the poor but He also want able bodied people to work.

I think he would want us to fight for the freedom of innocent people - so they could worship who they want. Afghans and Iraqis were not allowed to do that before the wars.

The peace Christ gives is not the worlds definition of peace. But true peace. The Peace that comes only from the Spirit. Christ is pretty clear about this in John 14.

And it is exactly because we have that peace and love for others that we would sacrifice ourselves to protect others.

Well, not all American believe in Jesus, and for some that do, they see this as moral work. I guess they believe forcing one's morals on others is what Jesus wanted?
