An excellent question. The Democratic party are thinking about future votes and not what 80% of the public wants. Let me explain: If democrats let illegals into the country, they will have children who will be able to vote. Those children will grow up thinking the only party that supports their interests is the Democratic party. There are now over 20 Million illegals in this country, this does not include their children. If that voting block votes Democratic, Republicans will not ever have a chance in in winning a national election. Most of the illegals are coming into states that are democratic. The fact is Republicans have not wanted to touch this issue when they are pushed to vote against it. The fact the illegals have gotten greater rights in a Republican administration indicates the difficulty both party has in trying to stop this.
When you are confused why people vote against the will of the people, it generally has to do with money they can get or more votes for themselves. Politicians only care about getting re-elected

Well it is not just the Dems - Republicans had 6 years of controlling the White House and congress and chose to do nothing. Late in the day they threw together a repeat of Reagan's amnesty bill.
Neither party is looking at this in the way you seem to want - so rather than just blame Dems perhaps you should ask yourself why nobody in power is interested.

The polls don't include the illegals, that might become legal with a Democrat led administration. Once that happens, and they start voting, guess what, end of Republican party. The irony is, although I hate the dichotomous 2 party system, a 1 party system is worse!

The Democratic leadership is the biggest folly ever foisted on the American people. They voted wrong on immigration, they will not protect our borders; they are for amnesty for illegalsthey are for raising taxes on the middle class Americans and haven't accomplished a thing since coming into power. And Hillary is among the worst but she has power behind her and all the bucks the liberals can muster.

The Democrats are more interested in promoting their personal interests than they are in promoting the interests of the people.
