Since the president is using the state of emergency to fix elections, and jail his political oppenents as well as suspend the constitution...how would the people vote (if they were allowed to) would they be rightwing? moderate? leftwing? or the extremes of either end of the spectrum?

Once all the opposition has been silenced I'm sure a shining new pro-american democracy will emerge. If not, all options are on the table as usual. Once all of the governmants have been forced to bow down, individual citizens are in for a very rude awakening.

The two main parties (both currently being suppressed) in previous elections were relatively centrist. I am worried, however, that after the actions of the past year or so that an Islamic Fundamentalist Party (if one was formed and ran) could do better than expected. Musharraf supporters would not do well in free and fair elections.
