The Washington Post ran a recent story by reporter Jonathan Weisman that pointed out that failure by Democrats to respond to voters' anger about illegal Aliens could cause them serious problems at the ballot box next year.

You can read from some of these quotes in a story that began with the example of a really solid Democratic seat being seriously challenged recently by a Republican who stressed toughness on illegal Aliens.

"This issue has real implications for the country. It captures all the American people's anger and frustration not only with Illegal Aliens, but with the economy," said Rep. Rahm Emanuel (Ill.), chairman of the House Democratic Caucus and an architect of the Democratic congressional victories of 2006.

"It's self-evident. This is a big problem. ... For the American people, and therefore all of us, it's emerged as the third rail of American politics,"

Republicans, sensing a major vulnerability, have been hammering Democrats, and they just don't get it !!

At first look it seemed like the left wing deal where they make a mountain out of nothing and the left wing media runs with it. You know you cannot have freedom of speech without them twisting it. Also they can say anything or do anything they want and nothing is said. But when you look at this, this guy is an elected official that's a top dog in Washington and he ran with a bogus story.

Should Rush sue the guy? The scary part is tht this guys informatin must have come from some left wing outlet and it was not only wrong, but a mean spirited lie. What if the guy gets some more bad information and runs up to Bush's office and tires to push the button?

No this has gone too far and he must be removed. He also took up valuble timeon the floor and then had 40 other ones waste time signing it, when they could have been doing congressional work. What about Rush's DIGNITY!

This is serious America, he must have a psychological examine and then put out to pasture.

Does this mean that the candidate that I would like to vote for is going to be there? Are all Republican candidates going to be there?

2007-10-24 15:47:06 · 2 answers · asked by Anonymous

Yes, they give some very broad ideas but they all sound an awful lot like Pres. Bush's song & dance answers over the last 6 years. (in which he hasn't been able to win it)

So the biggest issue in American politics since the end of the Cold War (The War on Terror) & not one Presidential candidate has any idea how they plan on winning it. Other than fighting it is on the top of their agenda's. I'm not sure who's more clueless the candidates or the American people who actually listen to them to talk all about fighting the war on terror but nothing on how to win it.

He's beating Kucinich already (that's the problem with friendly fire, evidently). It won't happen, but if it did, and nobody sued him for his TV time... what happens when the two evil entities destroying this country are threatened?

She has a strong lead over all the democratic candidates and given all the scandals the GOP frontrunner Rudy Giuliani comes with, he could never beat her. He already has firefighters protesting him and the religious right threatening to back a third party candidate.

All politics aside don't be led into thinking that race is not a issue. It always is and you know it. We had to fight to get African Americans in every office of importance in the US. If you let white america make you think that you should vote on experience or anything else. White America will say get over it and that your vote should not be based on race, but just look at their history of not giving a fair chance to minorities and you will know where your vote should go.You will make sure that your son or daughter has no chance of ever being President if this man does not receive the nomination.

Perhaps Voting should be compulsory for ages over 16?
Or is that too much pressure on people who don't know who to vote for?

Why would a candidate rarely wish to run a campaign focused solely on issues with his or her stands on those issues clearly explained?

If Fred Thompson doesn't know what is going on in a small campaign staff, How can he run the United States of America ?

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (AP) — Republican Fred Thompson played down a staff member's departure and a New Hampshire supporter's defection Wednesday, saying it's not up to him to know what's going on at every level of his presidential campaign.
"This is a campaign with a lot of different moving parts and a lot of things going on simultaneously," Thompson said in an interview with The Associated Press.

He's strong on crime and tough on terrorism, which makes him GOP, but...

Pro abortion, pro immigration, pro sanctuary city and pro gay marriage. With that in mind...

What type of judges do you think he will appoint?

regardless of political affiliation
- bush is NOT the antichrist
- hillary is NOT the great evil
- cheney is just a man doing whatever he does
- obama is really as qualified as anyone (we vote in actors for goodness sake - california anyone - two times already)

so why are u so nasty in comments when it is a person from a party that u are against

(p.s. the worst thing i've ever said was ann coulter was probably a man at birth BUT in my defense i really believe this to be true. her adam's apple, body type and for a sexually active woman who is prolife she has never had children. and she want to kill everything (mostly a guy thing testosterone driven - but to all the ann lover's -- i am sorry i feel that way)

Rep. Bobby Jindal’s election as governor moves Louisiana further into the Republican camp, indicating stormy waters for the one potentially endangered Senate Democrat in 2008.

And that happened before massive flooding from Hurricane Katrina in 2005 sent many black Louisianans, who often vote Democratic, fleeing to Texas, Utah and elsewhere. While the full political impact of the population shifts from the 2005 storms are still being revealed, it’s clear that Republicans are stronger than before.

Moreover, state Democrats have been beleaguered by scandals and poor election results. Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco chose not to seek reelection after a seemingly sluggish response to flooding from the hurricanes and months of unflattering media coverage.

That you know of, is there a presidential candidate that opposes: marijuana, pornography, prostitution, and homelessness, and supports: the environment/safe climate act, gay marriage (or civil unions)? The war, immigration, and taxes are not included, therefore it doesn't matter what your choice is in regards to those three issues.

Does anyone know of a website that has something that you can input what issues you're pro and con on and it will search for a presidential candidate that matches? Something please!

Thank youuu!!!

Spoof or Not .. This comedy has some merit.

I don't know about you, but it sure seems like both the Democrats and all but one of the Republicans favor this type of interventionism.

Does this sound too liberal to you all - the idea of having a voter competency test that if passed, would allow.. lets say 17 year olds to vote. I've heard of the idea of having a simular test for all of the population but mainly I'm just asking about people who are under 18.

I'm pretty sure it's in the US Constitution that you must be 18 to vote and I don't think we should change any of the fundemental things such as that. I just want other opinions on the idea itself.
