Does this sound too liberal to you all - the idea of having a voter competency test that if passed, would allow.. lets say 17 year olds to vote. I've heard of the idea of having a simular test for all of the population but mainly I'm just asking about people who are under 18.

I'm pretty sure it's in the US Constitution that you must be 18 to vote and I don't think we should change any of the fundemental things such as that. I just want other opinions on the idea itself.

How would you determine competency? If I were to write the test, every liberal would fail. If a liberal were to write the test, I am sure that my answers would have them saying that I am not competent to vote!

I actually voted legally when I was 17 (in the USA) You can legally vote in a primary election, as long as you reach 18 by the day of the general election. I voted in the 1976 presidential primary which was held before my 18th birthday, because the general election scheduled after my birthday!
