The flag is a piece of cloth that represents what America stands for. Not only that, but the men and women who have sacrificed their lives so that we may have our freedom. A salute or hand over heart, it shows respect for our Soldiers and our Country, and our heritage as a free Nation.

Rooster, I totally got what you were saying, evidently someone else didn't.

The flag is not just a piece of cloth. It is a symbol of this great country and should be respected. When a candidate stand there and refuses to salute the flag, he is showing great disrespect and is not honoring our country. I think this shows a lack of character,

What else is Obama not going to respect about our country?

Only soldiers salute the flag, we civilians put our hands on our hearts. By definition the president is a civilian, so yes I would vote for a candidate who doesn't salute the flag.

Let me guess, do you think that you have to put your hand on your heart when the nation anthem is sung? Because you don't. Traditionally, standing up is the right thing to do. You're confusing the hand-on-the-heart with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Nice try, but you'll have to try harder in order to criticize Obama. Try starting with his actual policies and beliefs as opposed to ridiculously superficial and false things like hands on hearts and lapel pins.
