I can understand using the electoral college to elect before 2000's when not everyone had some sort of access to internet and voting machines were not wide spread, but now it's possible. Why doesn't the U.S. have direct presidential elections?

I'm watching newsnight, its about the Lib Dems.
They are just a waist of time, spouting out rubbish the idealists want to hear. they have as much chance as getting elected as I have of having a tartan poo.
Ming Campbell is a doddery old T--t
These people actually get paid for NOWT

last year, this guy edited the "we the people" speech, and it was really funny. he won by a landslide....people in my school only vote for their friends and funny people, not people who would actually do a good job. I AM NOT FUNNY AND I AM RUNNING AGAINST PEOPLE WITH TONS OF FRIENDS...how should i write my speech? i don't want to be too funny or it will sound strained...and if i'm not funny, i will get no votes because i'm known as the "person who takes education too seriously"...i'm STUCK!!!!

They haven't even passed yet, and I'm already sick to my stomach!

It seems to me that most of these candidates (Republican and Democratic) started far too early campaigning, all wrote books just in time for next year's elections ... and whether they admit it or not, are spewing propoganda left and right...

Were presidential elections this annoying in decades past? Did they start campaigning two years in advance? I remember the last two were horrible, too. but it seems like they're just getting worst.

Too much propoganda and marketing involved -- blech

The only two candicates than make any sense to me are McCain and Lieberman! Both are moderates (like me), both would create strong business and economy without mortaging our future away, and both would kick a*s on terrorists!!! What do you think? (Time to resurrect Teddy Roosevelt's Bull Moose party.)

Below is the link to the story, please read and answer.

I can't help but to believe a democrat or liberal would have a heart attack if a former Republican candidate for the presidency made a comment about a white candidate "acting like he's black". For sure, they'd want him to explain what that means.

Dem Congress 11%

Bush 29%

Seems the public hates the Dems in congress even more than they hate Bush!

They want to create a healthcare system for everyone. This would be good, but they are not getting to the root of the problem. Healthcare does not make people healthy, nor does taking a pill. These temporarily fix the problem. Eating healthy and exercise make you healthy. I believe that any business that serves unhealthy food or products ie(fast food , cigarettes) should pay for the healthcare system. I know some of you are going to say it is a persons choice to do those things and I agree, but when I have to pay for them through my taxes I have no choice. So because of their bad choices I have to pay. Let me know what you think. I have some other ideas that I will ask later. I just want to see some feedback.
