Consider that most Abolitionists (people who wanted to free the slaves) were the "religious right" of the time, and that Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for civil rights on the philosophical platform that man's laws were out of step with God's laws.

Knowing that a removal of Religion from politics would discount these two HUGE civil rights victories, can it still be said that politics is better without religion?

Don't tell me to join the army or anything like that please. I'm talking realistically. I am a college student, so I don't think it would be hard to raise some money. I just don't know where to start or who to raise it for. I'm not a big fan of Pres. Bush & the government as a whole, so I would like to give to a charity or something like that..... Or if you have any other ideas about what I could do to help out; any suggestions would be helpful!

I asked a similar question before but thought I would clarify. I am not asking why they haven't rebuilt yet. My mother lost her home to Hurricane Floyd in 1999 so I know it takes a couple years.

I am asking... with all the funds that have been donated, why is the water and electricity situation STILL NOT fixed enough for these ppl to EVEN return to their homes to even begin to rebuild.

Seriously. Some still can't even go to their homes and begin the process.

Should that not have been a priority with the funds?

I know it's boring to ask about stuff like this, but I read a book called the Hornet's Nest and it talks about what the Southern colonies were thinking during the Rev. War, and it just really got me thinking why was there so much concentration on the North and not as much on the South.

This is the most fair a form of taxation there is. The fair tax bill is a grass roots effort and worth getting behind.

Republicans and Attorney General probably will take this to the Supreme Court and those judges will rule in favor of Bush and the Attorney Generals - because you know why - they have been elected by Republicans. Now you realize which country we are living in? So, guys vote for Independent or Demorcrats...otherwise we are all doomed.....I feel bad for those 51% percent who voted for the president and this congress.....Be smart about rest 49%....

If American Liberals spent as much time, effort and money trying to solve problems instead of lobbying for the rest of the country to do it and pay for it... would they be further ahead with their agenda?

With the labor force of 59 million Kerry voters and the millions and millions spent by/on the party and other special interest lobbys it seems as though they could have built homes for all the homeless and fed them, found jobs for those on welfare or paid for their housing and food, put up free-clinics, raised money for the healthcare of the needy... instead it was all wasted?

(serious answers please)

I've always heard that a day would come that money would have no value. Thinking about this the other day, I realized that money keeps order in our society. For instance, grocery stores would be impossible if everyone could go in and shop for free, there would be mayhem and chaos. People would fill 3 and 4 carts up to the brim, right? Unless there was a strictly regulated system. What do yous guys think?

Surely they deserve some reward, and good looks don't come cheap. Before you say anything, I said "they", not "we". I am fairly ugly and wouldn't expect to benefit from such a tax exemption.

First I mailed the letter back saying that I had to go to school, but my request was denied. But I will be traveling and studying out of the country in 4 weeks, which means that even if I show up for jury duty, I will not be abe to finish it before I leave. Then I called the office at the number provided, it was automatic and the only option I had was to postpone the date. The new date had to be 6 month or less (I will be abroad for a year). I realle dont know what to do. Should I write another letter to them to explain the situation (will they grant it) or should I set up a postponed date and see what happens next? Please help me!!!
