I have a law firm after me for a huge credit card debt, which I incurred during a lengthy nursing home stay over 5 yrs. ago. I was very ill, and came close to dying at the time. I had received a letter from a law office, only after I had gotten out of the nursing home, but I didn't realize what it was. I had contacted them after another letter was sent, later on (after I had figured out what the purpose of the letter was), telling them that I am on Soc. Security for disability. Then it was passed on to another law firm, sometime in the past few months. Should I contact them at all, or leave it alone? I am 53, and own absolutely nothing-not even a vehicle. My question is-can they still come for me with a court case, and sue me? Please Help!!!

If you feel that police is not really doing anything to bring your rights.

If you feel that no one is really listening

Would you go in the street carrying a sign to bring attention?

Would you think that might work?

That is really a serious question as I am thinking about doing it.

Thank you

I keep hearing that the police who should secure the president of Iran should be Jews .
Does this imply that Jews will not do their Job or is it a way to blame the Jews if something happens .

My boyfriend is in the Air Force, we have been together for about a year and a half. My boyfriend has had a medical restriction for the past couple of years due to testicular cancer so he has not been able to be deployed outside of the United States. He feels this is limiting his opportunities and is working on getting the restriction removed. When/if he does get stationed at an overseas base, I am worried about being able to find a job. By then we will be married, I currently work in ATM/Debit card processing and have had experience in various career fields and am working on getting my degree. According to my boyfriend, a lot of military wives have a difficult time finding a job overseas. I am not the type to not work, how difficult is it to find a job as a civilian overseas?

If we say we stand for the rule of law, freedom, the first amendment and we also have the best thing going for all in the world then why be afraid to have Mr. Ahmadinejad talk all he wants. If I were a student and had the opportunity to listen to a world leader I would get their early with pad and pencil and prepared questions on issues I disagreed on. You cannot learn hiding in the closet or under your blankets. If we are right we will prevail. Diplomacy works...weren't we preparing to do in the north Koreans not to long ago. Lets talk so that we may walk or all fight, no chicken hawks, no exemptions, no you go and I'll make millions like some are doing now. BS, I have lost enough family members to misguided wars. I spent some of my best years in a God forsaken place serving in the Armed Forces while some people went to school and prospered. I had to start from the bottom, playing catch up and never did. So no, celebrate courage like that of Pres. Lee Bollinger of Columbia.

Pundit TV - O'Reilly, Hannity, Olbermann, et al. Have they formed our opinions for us? The danger I see is that TV is now too one-way; there is little to no consideration or input from the populace before they put their opinions on the air. Does anyone else find this troubling?

We have lived in this Neighborhood for the past 14 years, along with 4 other surrounding Neighbors. The new, rental move on's, have lived here for about 6 months and they have called the cops on us 3 times because of our dogs barking. Now, when I mean barking. I mean anywhere from about 10min. to 40 min. They are little Pomeranian puppies just running around having fun. We are fed up with policemen coming to our door every 2 weeks, and when the cops do eventually come. They hear no dogs barking, not our dogs. Not any of their neighbors or ours. *The people on the opposite side also have about 4 dogs, who bark as well* And when the cops come, they tell us they don't hear anything and will leave a note on the report saying there was no sounds. So, what can WE do to stop this? It's really annoying and redundant to have cops coming. any suggestions?

Let me be the first to point out that I give polls little to no credence but have repeatedly seen people post polls here and some who do it almost daily.

I did find this to be of interest and for those who do pay attention to polls, do you only post them and pay attention if it heralds your side? Also, based on this poll, do you think that our Presidential election is going to be closer than most people think?

Clinton and Obama -- Drags on the Ticket?
September 23, 2007 12:44 PM
Very interesting Democratic poll, revealed in today's Washington Post, showing that GOP frontrunner Rudy Giuliani is more popular in key congressional Democratic swing districts than Obama or Clinton.
This would seem to show that despite enthusiasm among Democrats (and some in the media) for their candidacies, Obama and Clinton may not be as powerful in a general election match up as they may right now seem -- and in fact, may be a drag on the ticket in some areas, an argument Sen. John Edwards is trying to underline as he depicts himself as the more mainstream Democrat.
The Clinton and Obama campaigns dispute the findings, of course.

A recent survey by Democratic pollster Celinda Lake, however, showed Clinton and Obama trailing former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani (R) in the 31 Democratic-held House districts regarded as most imperiled in 2008, and even potentially serving as a drag on those lawmakers' reelection chances.
The poll was conducted in August but has not been previously reported. It paints a "sobering picture" for Democrats, according to a memo by Lake and Daniel Gotoff that accompanies the poll report.
Giuliani takes 49 percent to Clinton's 39 percent, while the former mayor's lead over Obama is far smaller, 41 percent to 40 percent. "Despite Obama's relative advantage over Clinton, both candidates are significantly underperforming against the generic Democratic edge in the presidential and even against party identification," Lake and Gotoff wrote.
The news gets worse for Obama and Clinton as one delves deeper into the survey.
While the average lead of Democratic House members stands at 19 percentage points in the 31 vulnerable districts -- all but two of which are part of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's incumbent-protection program known as Frontline -- that number sinks considerably when the lawmakers are linked to either front-runner.
"Some people say [your Democratic incumbent] is a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton and will support her liberal agenda of big government and higher taxes if she becomes president," the poll stated, before asking respondents whether they would still vote for their incumbent or choose a Republican candidate.
Of interest, these are Democratic pollsters.

Jay Leno did a gig where he had two college students (highly acclaimed colleges ) travel the country(apparently blind-folded or something) and then placed them at famous American Landmarks and asked them where they thought they were . Other follow-up questions too . At the Hoover Dam Leno had each one hold opposite ends of a dollar bill right over the spot where the time zone changes . He explained that the middle of the bill was exactly where the time zone line was . He then had them move the dollar about 2 inches and said "It's 11:00pm Pacific Time on one side so what time is it on the other "? -- LMAO . One said " 11:15 " ? And the other said " 10:50 "? - YEP !!

So while you're pondering your answer I'll give you just a little more food for thought .. . . . Read this and then try to convince me that college students are capable of discernment. . .. . . >>> http://archives.cnn.com/2002/EDUCATION/11/20/geography.quiz/index.html

Say you're pulled over because you have a head light out. The police run your license and you have a bench warrent for an unpaid speeding ticket. You're cuffed and put in the back of the police car. Your girlfried is sitting in the car when the police make her get out and start searching the vehicle. They say you gave them permission to search, you say you didn't. How do you prove a 4th amendment violation?

BTW: This happened, I'm the girlfriend. They arrested my BF and said they found drugs in the car. No permission was given for the search & there was really no probabal cause...

can we shut it off since they did not pay us for three months and they couldn't get the water in there name since they owe the water company. They have no plans of paying, and we are going to toss them out legal way but don't want to give them a 30day notice thats one more month free. WTF! We have told them, no they don't have kids, two adult females in thirty and forty's. We have bounced checks that now we have check fees from our bank for. Is it ok to shut off our utilities even though they wont leave yet. Plus it cost us money to pay to have papers drawn up just to kick them out. So now we are farther behind. We happened to be nice, she had a sob story how she was on family leave cus of her dad, but found out that was a lie and she doesn't have a job. Scums We got screwed over and know it. But don't want to loose more money.
