My wife, and I, both 64, and retired are coming to a turning point with our health coverage. I am a retired union carpenter, and am currently enrolled in the carpenters retirement and insurance fund. At age 65, the carpenters health insurance ceases to cover us. So we will then be on our own or on medicare. Our medical insurance costs $657 per month with co-pays on visits and drugs adding another $300 to our monthly health costs. I am relatively healthy, but my wife has many medical problems. We have about 8 months to come up with how we will be covered starting in June 08. The low marks for #5 is personal experience with the doctors assigned to our medical care. They have changed dramatically since we were kids. There seems to be more of a focus on prescription drugs to treat the symptoms, rather than treating the disease or malady itself. Believe me a medical exam is nothing like 20 years ago. Today, it's less of a hands on approach, and more of a pharaceutical approach, which quite frankly is a loss for the patient.Personally, I was hoping for universal healthcare to be implemented by the time I retired, but that didn't happen.

Sure. Take away their healthcare. Take away any benefits. Take away their pay. What are you left with? A Congress that is now made up of unqualified fools. How can we expect reasonably smart people to take a job if we aren't going to reward them for that job? We already have a problem with only the rich being able to successfully run for office and now you have just piled on to that problem.

All 5's. My company is tremendous about health care. It is a family run company so it sees the issues its employees experience and acts accordingly.

All high marks except of #2. That I give a 1.
I pay over 1/3 of my salary just to have my family insured, that doesn't cover my deductible or prescriptions or office visits. #7 I give a 2, they suck to deal with, like everybody is trying to screw them

So Far So Good, not many complaints, but i hate that they always have to check and make sure its not "pre-existing" thats annoying, but every company does that!
