because he knows he's going down, would his accomplices still be charged if the killer was the only person who identified them as accomplices?

For something i'm writing....

First poster-I am writing about something I know about. This is for one scene that happens toward the end of the story. The story is not about this particular question solely. I am not familiar with charges/convictions/sentencing guidelines, etc. which is why I’m posting on this section. I thought this was a section about law enforcement and I would be talking to people who are knowledgeable in this area. But thanks for the input.

If there is no other evidence linking the accomplices to the crime, then I doubt they would be charged.

But I'm sure the prosecutor would be looking for evidence, if he or she believed the original accuser (the dead man).

Depends on the circumstances... Anything in writing would most likely not be admitted, however, if there were interviews videotaped, those would probably be admissable under the circumstances, because the officer could confirm the content of the tape.

Also, if there were prior hearings, and evidence was entered in that hearing, it would not fall under the hearsay rule and would be admitted as an official court document.

It is unlikely that anyone would be charged just on the say-so of one person, whether alive or not. Further evidence would be required.
