Yeah, I know it's a generalization. Work with me here...

It seems we usually choose the latter over the former. Are we doing something wrong? Is presidential politics more than mere popularity contests? (Please: Exclude the current president from this picture -- not sure which of these two types he is closer to. It's not a stab at Bush, though. I am just thinking of Jerry Ford and Reagan, for example. We're a long way from Lincoln or Jefferson with these 2 choices, aren't we?)

i understand they have plenty of money, but how come average citizens dont stand up and band together to stop
the rich and powerful from walking all over everyone.
we just sit back and watch the celebrities and politicians keep
getting away with anything that you or i would go to prison for.

I saw an injured deer lying by the side of the road today. I was not sure whom I should call. I knew if I called the police, that they would just come and shoot it. I know the animal might have been so badly injured that putting it down would be the humane thing to do. I'd still feel better if I knew of an alternative agency to call; someone who might try to save the animal. And I know better than to try to approach the injured animal myself. In the end I called the police, figuring it was been to call them than to do nothing and leave the animal suffering in pain.

Really, I'm weakening I want to give her the benefit-of-the-doubt. I can't come up with one reason she should be allowed to run this country. In fact, I find the thought a little scary.

The core of the planet is warming and melting the surface ice .
All the oil that was keeping it cool has been pumped out and we have doomed our selfs to bake on the surface .

And asking questions of govt officials? I ask because I was 'called out' on being against the warrantless wiretaps, but calling for questioning of govt officials under oath. My underestanding is that private citizens fall under a different category than public officials...for example, we can know how a representative votes on something, but our own votes are not made public. And if this is not the case, then why is it so easy for dems to get the necessary subpoenas to question someone, but Bush can't seem to get a warrant to wiretap individuals?

If the Electoral college were abolished would that prompt more voters that the individual would ultimately decide the outcome, also thinking about such in elections of a democracy isn't this a bit ludicrous?

Will Bill Clinton come down with some strange disease so Hillary can try to cash in on the sympathy vote?

I think it is sad that his wife is sick (so don't say I am unsympathetic) , but every time one of her opponents does something, like Obama going to Selma…she has tried to match or one up them…

Let's look at the facts:

1. There are more wind generators now than there ever have been. Places like California and Nevada hae MILES of wind generators catching the wind:

http://www.freefoto.com/preview.jsp?id=39-01-1&k=Wind+Turbine+Generators%2C+Palm+Springs%2C+California

2. The globe is warmer now than it has ever been.

This must mean that these wind turbines are causing global warming, right? Maybe they are keeping the wind from blowing on the Earth, and cooling it!!

--P.S. Just because "We are emitting more Carbon Dioxide now than ever before" doesn't mean that is causing global warming. Are there any REAL facts proving that humans cause global warming? If so, please post them.
However, I think the "More CO2" correlation is the only 'proof' and that is a logical flaw, as I have shown.

Grow up, Al.

This is in the context of the congressional inquiry into the firing of federal prosecutors. Bush officials want to testify "not under oath." What does that mean? Surely it doesn't mean that they can lie? I am assuming there is a technical definition.
