It may help him get a few votes from cancer survivors, but otherwise, will probably have little impact.

I do not believe that it will impact his chances either way. I believe that the announcement was made before it could be spun by the media and turned into something it is not. They have fairly young children and I think part of it was for their benefit. I love John Edwards.

The couple symbolizes what marriage and love is about. They do project an admirable image of two Americans standing tall when it comes to real life crisis.

John Edwards also does stand tall in terms of honesty, integrity and has always shown himself as a fighter and a true supporter of those facing unfortunate advantages and circumstances. I do respect and salute to his strength and courage in handling crisis. And I'm glad that the couple is not deterred to keep up John Edwards' campaigning for the White House. They really do bring inspirations of hope to John's supporters and not letting them down.

I've always liked them, they are real people, with real problems that don't include three wives and power trips.
If we want a good, solid person with smarts and morals he is really our only choice. Newt, Rudy, John all have skeletons in their sex closet, all have had three wives or have confessed to cheating on their spouses.
Politics being politics normal people will feel a certain empathy for them, not Ann Coulter obviously, but I did say normal. I think that they had to deal with the discovery of the bone cancer, and most have seen it happen in their own families, but I don't see them exploiting it.
It will help to a small extent, hinder, not at all.

Not impact. He should have used the press conference to pull out, since he cannot seem to get more than 12% of his party's vote.

Now he just looks like he is the boy who cried "wolf."

Not impact, same as if she had diabetes - he said it. Although Im pretty sick of all the cheaters/divorces, Gingrich, McCain, Guiliani, Clintons, Kerry, so its almost refreshing to see this.

I hope it helps him. I like him. And I hope that she is better soon. They have little kids so this is a sad situation.

I think that they are both very brave but people will vote for him based on his record and how he campaigns.
