Like a lot of conservatives, I have "issues" with public education. but one problem I see with vouchers is something that more conservatives should consider, also.

If there were some program to allow parents to use government funds to help pay for private school tuition, then wouldn't the schools taking the funds be subject to more government regulation? wouldn't you, in effect, be changing the character of these private schools and importing whatever perceived problems there are in the public system into these schools?

I know private schools are expensive. But if people think they do a better job because the government isn't involved, then shouldn't they keep the government out of it?

What am I missing here? Thanks.

How many of you out there actually trust China? I don't. I think that to much industry has gone to China, it has nuclear capabilities, it has an enormous population, and it has presented no reason to trust the nation of China. What say you?

Situation, my 8 yo niece and 15 yo nephew are living in a home that is disgusting and reeks of dog & cat urine all the time. The have 2 cats and did have 3 dogs. My nephew is doing 90-95% of the cleaning, which is only recently dishes, laundry, &occaisional vacuuming. The mother doesn't pay attention to the kids, & my niece is extremely behind in school work. Sis-in-law doesn't give my nephew money for lunches etc. Only expects him to watch his half sister & do the cleaning. She works in a bar until odd hours. Bro-in-law is now in jail and is looking at least 5yrs prision time. When that all happened we got a frantic call from Sis in law and went to the house and she was VERY drunk and the house looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in a very very long time. We found dog fecal matter in my niece's room, as well as pet urine on the "clean clothes", dried cat fecal matter under her bed. Mold growing on dishes etc.... What do I do? I have pics & more info if you want to email

In our break room here there is a government poster that states anyone who joines a uniformed survice and gives notice to their employer regarding their enlistment is supposed to have a job at that company whenever they come back for up to 5 years. So if I do 4 years in the army and I come back can I get this job back?

This is part 2 of my previous question. Some people seem to think the only way to support our soldiers and this war is to go fight in it. I was just wondering how important it is for you to have support at home.

God Bless our Troops!

This is involved, but my son and daughter in law moved out of my house last fall, leaving a good deal of their stuff behind. Due to my dil's mental issues I don't want her on my property or in my house. She insists I have to. Do I? I've told my son he can come and get their stuff, but not her. Am I within my rights as a home owner to ban her from my property and house?

"Our expectations of what American military power could do were wildly exaggerated,'' said Andrew Bacevich, a former Army colonel and U.S. Military Academy professor. "We're not in control of events. We may be the most powerful nation in the world, but we don't have the ability to impose a solution on this problem.''

Quote taken from http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20070319/pl_bloomberg/afuoyef67xi4_1 The rest of the article hardly paints an encouraging picture by the way.

My husband wants to adopt my 14 year old son, his biological father is all for it too. We really do not have the 4000 dollars to pay an attorney. I have heard of people doing it themselves. Can anyone tell me how this is done, and what we have to do to get started on it? The state we live in is Louisiana.
Thanks

I hear this word bandied about like crazy. Do the people who use it really know what it means? A traitor is not a person who disagrees with his or her government. Nor is it someone who expresses that disagreement - in ANY forum. A traitor is someone who has performed an action that has betrayed their nation or weakened its security. My saying that Bush is an idiot does neither of those things, so you all need to get over it. I certainly didn't see all you patriotic Republicans crying treason whenever your comrades dissented a Democrat President's administration. So let's try not to have a double standard, shall we?

I've had to stop taking e-mail due to classless name calling and hate mail from the non-violent / open minded ,liberals .

I know not all of them are like that because my best friend is a dem and we discuss polotics all the time, his girl on the other hand ,,,,,

The hatered they carry on this blog is astounding and really doesn't help their cause.

most Republicans don't advocate the exteem minority in our party, Why have the left let their exteem minority speak so loudly for them?

Have you ever seen president Bush resort to name calling?
How many classless names have democratic leaders given Bush?
