Now that America is making excuses for torturing its prisoners, was there anything wrong with the USSR doing the same thing to its prisoners? How do we distinguish the USA from the USSR now that we are acting like they did? What are we supposed to be proud of as Americans now that our country is acting like the USSR? Or is that what we are supposed to be proud of?

Chavez is in a different time zone. Ahmadinejad is more diliberate in his thinking. His remarks about Israel are calculated(I don't agree with them), but he doesn't just throw off remarks without thinking. Chavez once said that our secretary of state had the hots for him.

I was given a 28 day notice to vacate. The 28th day actually fell on the 1st (which was a Friday). I advised the landlord that I will complete my move in the morning. When I came there, he changed the locks and had all of my stuff piled in one room. I took my belongings and left. Now, the landlord sent me a letter saying my deposit is being held for various reasons, mainly because I didn't clean up and didn't throw away stuff. Is this legal? He also charged me extra money for that Saturday, but I wasn't even allowed to go in the unit other than to grab my belongings. Can someone help me?

What are the chances of a woman getting elected President? Do the Republicans, or Democrats offer any REAL potential female candidates?

I'm independent, so don't bash me.

I am male and 35 and my father is 68 years old. My father's brother is an attorney. I don't get along with him (my uncle) very well and I dont trust him when it comes down to it. He and my father are extremely close though. It concerns me a bit that my uncle will surely handle my father's estate when he dies and I think to myself if my uncle decides to manipulated the will somehow around the time of my fathers death how the heck would I ever know? So with that in mind I recently asked my father if he had a will and could i see it? His response was to get very upset and tell me that his will "is none of my business" ? I'm thinking ... I'm his eldest son (only son) historically who else's business would it be? So my question is does this seem 'fishy' to anyone else and also in general do father's normally let their son's see their will prior to dying. [if not, it seems to me we (society in general) place alot of trust in estate lawyers, especially when that lawyer is a relative]

in the news paper today, i saw an article about a woman sueing for 2 million dollars. Isnt that a bit much. Though what happened to her is horrible and it should not have happened I think there is a fine line between compensating and milking your situation and to me she is milking it.
Im not trying to downplay what happened by pain and suffering, medical, and therapy shouldnt cost even half of what she is asking for. Even the papparazzi are sueing for that much for geting slapped. It is ridiculous. i think thay need to start asking what these people are gonna use the money for because instead of trying to get a payday she should be fighting for other restuarant workers going through the same so that other woman dont get sexually assaulted in the workplace.

For my Government class, I was supposed to look up federal funding dealing with a legal drinking age. What I found was this:

"“The legal age for alcohol in the USA is 21 years old. The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 required all states to raise their minimum purchase and public possession of alcohol age to 21. States that did not comply faced a reduction in highway funds under the Federal Highway Aid Act. The U.S. Department of Transportation has determined that all states are in compliance with this act. The national law specifically prohibits purchase and public possession of alcoholic beverages. It does not prohibit persons under 21 (also called youth or minors) from drinking."

Anyways, I wanted to know people's opinions with this, dealing mainly with the federal funding. If you have something that would be appropriate for my class, please answer.

I heard that if you join the army or marines you can drink before you are 21? Anyone know for sure that this is true? Because this may be one of the main reasons why I'd join the military....

It'd only be right to let men who are under 21 drink if they can die for you old punks that increased the drinking law.
