in the news paper today, i saw an article about a woman sueing for 2 million dollars. Isnt that a bit much. Though what happened to her is horrible and it should not have happened I think there is a fine line between compensating and milking your situation and to me she is milking it.
Im not trying to downplay what happened by pain and suffering, medical, and therapy shouldnt cost even half of what she is asking for. Even the papparazzi are sueing for that much for geting slapped. It is ridiculous. i think thay need to start asking what these people are gonna use the money for because instead of trying to get a payday she should be fighting for other restuarant workers going through the same so that other woman dont get sexually assaulted in the workplace.

Obviously you're very niave as to how the legal system works! Just because her law suit says she's suing for "two million" it's just something on paper and nothing more! A line that had to be filled in! She more than likely will be lucky if she comes out with 10% of that! It just gives the media something more to sell the paper! Has NO VALUE what-so-ever in the legal arena!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I am for people being compensated for other peoples careless actions! Injuries can have devestating effects on a person and their families lives and should be compensated accordingly by the responsible party!
No, I don't think someone should be compensated 10 million dollars for spilling hot coffee in their own lap! However, it did have damages value and was certainly worth something in terms of loss wages and pain and suffering!
What we need is some kind of realistic formula to dispose of these cases in a fair way to the vicims! One way to start would be a system that sets fees an attorney can charge for his services! We did it to the doctors now it's time for the legal arena to be brought into some kind of reality check! That is where all the dollars are going- not the injured folks!
Take a look at the tobacco industry lawsuits! Who made all the money? Not the cancer victims! Your right, the greedy lawyers who walked away with one of the largest paydays in history!!! Most of the rest went to the states where it was divided up amongst the wealthiest political participants!
Hope you have a better understanding of how the system really works!

People think that a lawsuit is like a lottery win. Sue somebody and be independently wealthy for life. In reality, the purpose of a lawsuit should only compensate you for what you've lost. You should only be in as good a position as you would have been had a wrong never happened to you, not filthy rich.

Yes, I certainly do agree with you. I blame the lawyers. Too many people out there are suing over nothing these days just to make a fast buck. I believe that there are legitimate lawsuits out there and depending on the suit and circumstances a reasonable amount should be awarded. People don't care when they sue and get awarded that the consumer (meaning us) has to pay for it.

I think that there are good reasons to sue but I think people are suing entirely too much. People are suing for all the silly reasons. A lot of times they sue if someone says something they don't like. It might stop that some if the people who starts the law suit has to pay all court costs.

you know you can sue anyone for any reason. There are people out there that are making a living out of lawsuits. Do you know why we have to pay so much for auto insurance? I just read in my local paper that 4 men have been intentionally bumping and wear caught after 3 years of it. It seems that it would be a lot easier to work.

confusing to assert. the actual undeniable reality that you're sueing is sufficient to rigidity them to their optimal. I advise taking it. did you recognize if it truly is the optimal the dogs proprietor is insured for? If certain - then definately take it because it truly is the most they're going to ever pay after all - some thing more advantageous comes from the dogs proprietor for my section, and also you'll be continually getting it (if ever.) i ought to ask your criminal specialist too, yet any criminal specialist will say "no save squeezing, you could get more advantageous" - out of self pastime. He/she receives more advantageous in the experience that they save the fit alive. positioned the $fifty one,000 right into a brokerage account on your son, invested in secure dividend paying inventory or mutual fund. it will be well worth $150,000 - $2 hundred,000 at the same time as he's 21.

Good Question. Thank you.
The trial lawyers are ruining this country. They are the reason our hospital costs and insurance is so high. They are literary raping the country.
Look up how John Edwards became a millionaire. IT WILL ABSOLUTELY MAKE YOU SICK.
Evil. Evil. I might do a lot of things for money, but I would never destroy our country like John Edwards.

yes, people are suing way to much. lawyers advertise on television and promise to sue the insurance companies. laws restricting the amount of damages will never be passed because most politicians come from a legal background

It is a lawyer driven, litigation frenzy out there. Settlements are way out of hand. What happened to common sense, because we all end up paying the costs in some capacity.
