Many oil companies hold patents to technology which would lead to alternative energy, and refuse to sell the rights to or use or develop this technology because it would cut into their oil profits. In addition they are hoarding it up for when the oil is gone, or when we finally wise up and ban its use in everyday civilian transportation. Is this unconstitutional?

Congress has the power: To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries

These people are using these exclusive rights, but not for the promotion of progress, but to impede it. Illegal?

I am a white single straight male. My grandparents on one side immagrated from Italy, the other came to Ca from Ok. They both oddly enough worked for the railroads and are pro-union. I went to a Liberal College, I was a Liberal arts major, I have a good job making over 80k but under 100k, I own a home, nice trucks, I don't go to church and I am not very religious. I believe in evolution and abortion. I read Newspapers, Magizines, and watch some TV(Liberal media) I am a registered Independent. I am against the war and agaisnt immagration. Am I "gasp" "choking" .....Liberal?

They have claimed that they will step up border patrolls and help the lebanese army to stop weapons getting in to lebanon "when possible".

I thought that it was syria that was originally giving weapons to hezbollah.....

Some hotels locally are just staffed by Russians here working who came here on student visas who are not in school and never were who got them after 9-11. Many are working in fast food restaurants from other countries and in stores locally. I just found this out recently and it scared me very badly to learn because the terrorists came here on student visas. I thought if they were spending all this money on tightening up the Mexican border (supposedly it is tightened up) that they had taken care of student visas first.

People in 45 States have VOTED to pass a law or amend their state constitution banning same-sex marriages. Including California, Oregon, Washington and the Midwest - normally very "blue" states. I'm on the fence with this issue but get so annoyed with people pushing it down my throat that I generally come out against it.

If you haven't heard, the British movie, Death of a President, will be opening at the Toronto Movie Festival this month. The movie is based on the fictional 2007 assassination of President Bush.

All I want to know is how many people would go see this movie, if by some obscure chance it would be allowed to open in American theatres. I won't bother stating my opinion on this one, but I'd really like to know how many every-day people would want to go see this.

This is a follow up question regarding my friend who has outstanding traffic fines in Iowa and Nebraska. He received a letter yesterday saying if he doesn't pay his fines an arrest warrant will be issued (I don't know if it was from a collection agency or what have you) He doesn't have the money to pay these fines and he actually doesn't have a license either (it was suspended because of failure to pay). The main thing I'm concerned about is that he is supposed to fly to Canada in 2 weeks to visit me....can he get arrested at the airport if there is a warrant out for his unpaid traffic tickets or can he get arrested at the airport here in Toronto when he goes through immigration. Would Canadian authorites know about this warrant?

Im not christian and am Hindu but then you guys see the second coming as Jesus and we have a dufferent name which is Kalki.

I am building a house for someone and need to have the legal stuff to prevent problems and protect both of us. I have a friend who just did the same thing and spent almost a thousand dollars for the document. I am considering just using it and substituting the names, but I don't want to do anything that is wrong. There is nothing on the document that identifies the attorney, gives credit to the attorney, or says anything about a copyright. Can I use it?
