Wow, just joining Yahoo Answers, and have already gotten a ton of good info. Great site! :) Anyway, ya know how e-mails are constantly circulating on that net with Fwd:Fw:Fw? Well I am friends with a lot of military folk,&got one today from one of my girlfriends whose hubby is in the military. Well the e-mail basically said that Cindy Sheehan, the woman who has been protesting at the Bush ranch...hasn't even gotten a tombstone for her son? Anyone else got this? Is this true? I would think the military would provide those things for their fallen soldiers...so that's why I wasn't sure if I should believe it or not because people lie a lot on e-mails. I honestly didn't want to believe that and i'm not judging the woman cause tombstones are probably expensive. But they have a pic of her son's grave...or what's supposed to be his grave and it looks so...just plain. Are there any funds where money can be donated to help her buy him a tombstone? I would donate for sure.

All my high up people say that the military is changing and all the jobs are slowly being changed to civilian contractors. Why would we run the government by civilians. I mean President Bush is a civilian but come on...

RAMONA – Clint Hamilton says he'd rather be playing softball with his 10-year-old daughter.

Instead, the Ramona resident said “patriotic duty” pushes him to spend at least 20 hours a week trying to stop day laborers from gathering outside the downtown grocery store where he once shopped.

A one-man Minuteman army, Hamilton videotapes and photographs people hiring workers and said he's been criticized and threatened.

“All I ask them to do is get out of our parking lot,” he said.

Hamilton, 44, speaks in calm tones and wears a U.S. Border Patrol baseball cap. “I'm basically a nice guy,” he said.

Outside a doughnut store in the shopping center, men gathered for coffee on a recent morning said they don't see Hamilton that way.

“He's just racist,” said Antonio Murillo, 75, who buys a pastry and a cup of coffee and spends his mornings chatting with the workers, something he said he has done each morning for more than 15 years.

A retired plumber, Murillo said he feels targeted by Hamilton's cameras because Murillo is Latino. He's a legal U.S. resident, he said, pulling out his residency card. It's not true, as Hamilton contends, that the workers leer at women or urinate in the alley, Murillo said.


Day-labor division
Nationwide and throughout North County, day-labor sites like the one in Ramona have become the most visible staging ground of the illegal immigration debate. In Vista, a day-labor ordinance that requires would-be employers to register with the city is being contested in court.
But how such sites are viewed often depends on who is viewing them. Though he is loosely a member of the San Diego Minutemen, Hamilton prefers acting alone, he said.

He grew up near San Ysidro and served two years in the U.S. Army as a combat medic before returning to run his own construction-related business in San Diego. About 16 years ago he and his wife, Lynnette, bought a house on a one-acre lot in Ramona where they could keep their horses and raise a family, Hamilton said.

The growing number of Latinos looking for work outside his neighborhood Albertsons prompted him to shop elsewhere and begin his protest.

He isn't bothered by the men's legal status, he said.

“I don't like the way they make the street look. We have a beautiful little town in Ramona, and we don't need 100 loitering men,” Hamilton said.

For months, Hamilton has protested by himself at the hiring site. He started off carrying a sign that read “Hire a Patriot, Not an Illegal.”

He and the day laborers both said they yell at each other in the parking lot.

Hamilton sends videotapes and photographs he takes of landscapers, homeowners and other employers picking up the day laborers to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Let's start with two premises. First, let's assume for sake of argument that the embryo does have independent legal rights. Second, let's agree that a woman has the right to choose what happens to her own body, but does not have the right to harm the embryo. In other words, she has a say in what happens to her, but no say in what happens to the child.

Solution -- each state sets up a registry of surrogate mothers, from those who are pro-life. Anytime someone doesn't want to be pregnant, the state will randomly select a surrogate from this list, sort of like jury selection. The embryo will then be transplanted from the original mother to the surrogate, and both will sign adoption papers transferring full custody to the new mother.

That gives the original mother her personal choice to opt-out of being involved in the pregnancy, and the pro-life people are happy because no embryo will ever be killed.

Seems like a win-win for both sides. Any objections?

I don't give a damn about other countries.

The main problem in my state is meth and not marijuana.

An illegal immigrant does not have a chance in replacing my job.

An acquaintance was deported yesterday for five years, at 2:30 PM... By 8:00 PM he was back in the corner of the street where he meets with friends to drink beer, why keep such unenforceable laws when our senate has prepared a comprehensive immigration bill?

I know education spending is one of, if not the biggest part of the US budget, but there are alot of criticisms regarding the decline of our schools, (specifically inner city schools where most of the money goes). Does anyone think more funding is the answer? Does anyone have another answer?
