You must have read, heard, or seen the atrocities of the Nazis during the Holocaust, but perhaps an even crueler, less humane event during World War II goes unnoticed. The Japanese forces went into Nanking, the Chinese capital with orders to kill, rape, and torture as many individuals as possible. And they did.
I think people should at least recognize this event. As they say, "those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it".
Here is the video code for a really good documentary on the event. I don't know if embedding works in Yahoo! Answers, so I'll add the hyperlink just in case. I think you should all be informed of this. Watch it, for the sake of humanity, this cruel deed should not be forgotten!

After today's news, http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/02/AR2007020201093.html do you still doubt man-made global warming? How? Do you simply not believe any science at all? A conspiracy of scientists simply out to control your life? Or is it all true, and all the non-scientists who said it wasn't are the blind leading the blind?

I had to comment, I am watching the local news and my governor has just mandated a series of 3 vaccines for GIRLS aged 11-12, before the start of the 2008 school year. Gardisil is a vaccine that protects against HPV which is a sexually transmitted disease a symptom of which can be cervical cancer in women.

Boys can carry the virus, and infect their sex partners, but they are not being required to take the vaccines at this point.

Personally I am pretty liberal about things but I can't believe this mandate and I disagree with it. Right here in the Bible Belt!

Texas parents want to weigh in on this one?

Anyone else?

The most recent reference is from the recent Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode in Boston, Chicago and 8 other major cities. You can't just throw a reference about a historic event around that has nothing to do with a recent event. I don't mention Washington crossing the Delaware every time I go swimming at the beach. So any time someone feels that we almost, supposedly, sorta, kinda, maybe, but not really had a terrorist threat they link it to a real terrorist threat that was successful. If you wanna live in the past build a time machine and go back 6 years. I don't enjoy living in a world full of fear and fantasy. God bless Aqua Teen Hunger Force's creator's reaction from the interview where they only would take questions having to do with hair. To take the charges seriously and believe in the media hype that this is a horrible situation and jeopardized US security simply because the news media over-hypes and police agencies have no bearing on the real world with over-blown national security crap justifies the situation of bring 9/11 up for any reason whatsoever.

I came across a news article the other day showing how scientists have a clock that's all about how far we are from the end of civilization as we know it. (Did anyone else see that in the news? Anyone got a link? I think it was advanced to two minutes to midnight or something like that.) Whether it be climate change (and the human effects thereof - never mind the human causes), or asteroid impact or Nuclear Armageddon - or even some killer avian flu.
Here we are now with Bush 'sending messages' to Iran because he refuses to have diplomatic relations with them. Sure, the middle east is a powder keg just waiting to ignite, but at this rate the U.S. (under Bush's white house) are gonna wind up being the ones to light the fuse.

According to some, we don't do enough to secure the country, as in the 9/11 Report, then the same group screams violation of civil rights with domestic electronic surveillance. Then hearing the popular mantra "Bush is a criminal, the U.S. cannot win in Iraq, the American military is broken, the U.S. is hated worldwide, etc" which is identical rhetoric in nature as to an Al Qaeda propaganda tape, is it not hard to believe that if the government and congress don't begin taking this war very seriously, rather than politicizing it, that we are greatly weakening and diminishing our capabilities in preventing a terrorists dream of attacking this country in a coordinated, multi-city effort with nuclear weapons, the likes the world has never witnessed before ? Or, is this merely "24" type scare tactics, it will never happen, much like no one thought hijacked planes would be used as missiles on thousands of unsuspecting innocent civilians ?

why are we fighting a war that will never end? why aren't we searching and fighting against the cause of sep 11? Have we forgotten sep 11? I guess along the way we deserted our original play of fighting terrorism to spreading democracy? We should be searching for Bin Laden and not theaten the us with more terriorism? I think Bush is finishing what his father tried but couldn't. While we complain here in the us for ipods and gas prices, people are dieing for that right in the first place. To get success, we must first accept defeat.

Jaya Bacchan has been sent to Rajya Sabha on Samajwadi Party Seat from UP. The Bacchan family has close links with the CM's family. In fact, he calls her his 'Rakhi' sister and due to this she was proposed as the SP candidate for RS.Now in the light of the recent Tehelka Revelations, the lid over the Nithari Carnage has been blown and it is now obvious that it was not an isolated incident as made out till now but a fully orchestrated event in which money-power was blatently used not only to buy the local police but also to buy the silence of the present UP ministers, one of them no less than the Brother of the present CM. In the light of the indignities suffered by the families of the poor victims ( Women(W) & Children(C) at the hands of the police in order to hush up the matter which resulted in the Nithari Psychopaths becoming even more adventerous, resulting in the death of even more victims, Shouldn't the Women members of SP like Jaya Bacchan resign in remorse for the Victims(W & C)

The so-called "peace" prize has gone to terrorist Yasir Arafat and not to Ghandi who has been a greater inspiration for peace than anyone. It has gone to terrorist-loving Jimmy Carter and not to Ronald Reagan who dismantled mutually assured destruction. Calling it a peace prize is like nicknaming a tall guy shorty and a short guy stretch. Is the Norwegian parliament trying to say Al Gore is a terrorist?

This is question from british residents and citizens. I moved in UK four months ago for my Msc. I came from Saudi Arabia, where there is no freedom of speech and I loved to be in UK. I liked democracy and freedom of thoughts in this country. But I am depressed to know that I can't speak of certain topics. Can someone let me know if I can express my following views in this country:
1. I am a peace loving person who is against any type and form of killing the innocent people. I feel for the people suffering around the globe. But I am against war on Iraq and Afghanistan. I feel it killing of innocent people. Can I say that if bin laden is behind 7/7 bombings he must be sentenced in front of victims families. Similarly mr. blair must be prosecuted according to british law as killer. There was no reason to invade Iraq. Secondly, I don't call the insurgents attacking coalition forces in Iraq as terrorists. If someone enters my home to kill me. I'll defend it anyway and kill one who broke in.
