According to some, we don't do enough to secure the country, as in the 9/11 Report, then the same group screams violation of civil rights with domestic electronic surveillance. Then hearing the popular mantra "Bush is a criminal, the U.S. cannot win in Iraq, the American military is broken, the U.S. is hated worldwide, etc" which is identical rhetoric in nature as to an Al Qaeda propaganda tape, is it not hard to believe that if the government and congress don't begin taking this war very seriously, rather than politicizing it, that we are greatly weakening and diminishing our capabilities in preventing a terrorists dream of attacking this country in a coordinated, multi-city effort with nuclear weapons, the likes the world has never witnessed before ? Or, is this merely "24" type scare tactics, it will never happen, much like no one thought hijacked planes would be used as missiles on thousands of unsuspecting innocent civilians ?

What's in a name, clueless ? By the way, that wasn't a rant. If I ranted you would know.

I love how your type loves to have it both ways. "Enough is not being done to protect us". Then it's "My civil rights may be violated".

Or "We need to get Bin Laden." Then "Don't increase the funding of the war or increase the troop levels."

Or: "We should have done something a long time ago". Then " We can't go attacking countries that haven't attacked us !".

Flim-flam, wish-wash. It's so easy to criticize, yet have absolutely no plan whatsoever of your own. -"What your doing is wrong. I have no idea of how to help or fix it though."

Your type has done nothing, whatsoever, to better or improve our chances of success in Iraq, yet you call Bush the failure. Look within, you would all rather be right, than victorious. The derision and vitriol you liberals spew is detrimantal to our men and women in harm's way, and to our country as a whole.

I love how people on this site "ask" a question, then use the details to answer it. I won't hold my breath to get 10 points here, because I disagree with you. OK, here's my "answer" (or "response" to your rant disguised as a question)

1. We are NOT doing enough. Little of the 9/11 Report's recommendations have been implemented.

2. Surveillance is necessary, I understand that. What I do NOT understand is surveillance of groups that are NOT terrorists and refusal to get a warrant (which CAN be granted retroactively).

3. "The U.S. is hated worldwide, the military is broken, cannot win in Iraq" is not propaganda. It is fact. Sorry, you don't have to LIKE it.

4. Democrats DO take this war seriously. 3000 Americans dead, NOT finding Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaida membership growing, using much needed resources in a country that did NOT attack us, this is what is serious.

5. It is YOUR policies that are diminishing these capabilities of defending ourselves. We need to find Al-Qaida and Osama Bin Laden and we need ALLIES to do that, not enemies.

6. It is not scare tactics, it can definitely happen. But again it is the CURRENT administration that is using the scare tactics NOT to protect US, but to better advance IT'S political agenda.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. Who said we WANT to have it both ways? You did, but you're wrong. It IS both ways.

8. What does increasing the troop levels in Iraq have to do with finding Osama Bin Laden?

9. Don't put words in my mouth. What was done a long time ago was a long time ago. I am concerned (as you are) with what the best thing to do for our country is NOW.

10. Whether or not we have a plan (and what it is) is not the question you asked.

11. By the way, what IS victory in Iraq?

12. You want to name-call it vitriol and hate, there's nothing I can do. But you are WRONG. We criticize what we disagree with because we care about the country AND the people that are in harm's way. We have that right here. But if that bothers you, you might like to live in a country where people don't have that right. Perhaps in the Middle East.

Do we want more civil liberties or more security? They start infringing on each other after a while.

I personally support the Iraq War, if only because we made a big mess out of Iraq, and are bound by honor to clean up the mess we made. I do not think the war was justified because there were no WMD's, and did not support the war initially.

I do not support the surveillance activities of the government, simply because it is not within their constitutional authorities to suspend constitutional law for the purpose of making their job easier. Jose Padilla, an American citizen, is being held without cause, his right of habeas corpus suspended, and is being treated cruelly and unusually, all under the pretext of protecting other American citizens. While I don't envy the job of protecting America, I do not budge when choosing between upholding the Constitutional laws of Habeas Corpus, right to a speedy trial, the right to face our accusers, and the Bill of Rights; and letting a terrorist on the street; my rights are more important than making me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Now, on the other hand, if I had my way, the 2nd amendment could not be infringed (as it plainly states in the Constitution) and terrorists involved in illicit activities would be shot on sight.

I agree with Clueless...

I recall some Democratic Senators had some plans for increasig port security and that of chemical and nulcear plants...

As for internal political resistance youcan look back at all the foot dragging and subterfuge GW used in implementing the 9-11 report...

How about Katrina...was your department of homeland security well prepared for that..how about the clean up... There plenty of blame to go around... but you seem to shuck it all on the democrats who werent even in power the last 6 years

But I think you should save your ranting for your high school chess club or whatever extra cirricular (and decidedly juvenile) circles you run around in.. Clearly you can write and have a well developpped vcocabulary but you havent demonstated you can think or provide analysis that is remotely objective or even fair to the men and women of numerous political stripes that serve this country. So go out and see they world, and come back here in a few years when you grow up... intern in D.C. and offer one of your snide questions to a member of the senate or a U.S. ambassador and see what kind of sober response you get.

So, as long as we're all good little members of the homeland and keep our mouths shut, we'll be safe?
