GALVESTON, Texas -- A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged after police said his 2-month-old daughter was burned when he placed her in a microwave, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.
Joshua Mauldin of Arkansas has been charged with injury to a child causing serious harm. He is in the Galveston County jail with bond set at $250,000.
At Shriners Burns Hospital on Tuesday, doctors treated internal injuries and third-degree burns the infant suffered to the left side of her face and left hand. She is listed in critical condition. Maudlin arrived at a Galveston hotel last week along with the baby, his wife and mother. He called 911 on Thursday, saying that his baby had been burned in the hotel room when he tripped while carrying a pot of hot water to make coffee.
But police Sgt. Annie Almendarez said investigators later decided the child's injuries were not consistent with that story. She said investigators believe the child was in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds.
"I've been doing this for a lot of years and it actually brought tears to my eyes," Almendarez said. "I'm sitting there looking at the pictures and I'm sitting there looking at him and there's nothing I could really do about it but just keep my composure and go on."
Detectives said Mauldin later confessed to putting his daughter in the microwave and said he was frustrated by the demands of caring for her.
At the time the child was injured, her mother and Mauldin's mother were picking up dinner at a nearby restaurant.
According to police reports, Mauldin told investigators God ordered him to go to Galveston to look for work as a minister.
If convicted, Mauldin could receive a prison term of five to 99 years, as well as a fine of up to $10,000.

Unlike the revolutionary patriots of the United States who stood up and fought for their freedoms, the Iraqi people are having freedom handed to them by a new generation of U.S. heroes. Yet over and over again the Iraqi's have demonstrated they are too timid and fearful to even accept freedom when it is offered for free. Now that they have the opportunity to help find the kidnapped troops, they still cower timidly in fear. Are the Iraqi's just too cowardly to be free?

Now that he is not allowed to go and fight. I think it is probably the right decision, because it would endanger both him and the other soldiers with him, but it must be so frustrating for him to be told he can't go and do what he has trained for.
Do you agree?

Read in a Portugal newspaper that JUST NOW they have added a Russian man as the latest suspect as they widen the search to cover other places in Europe. It makes sense what people are saying on the net that the family could have been watched by people to plan the kidnapping. But I really wonderhow parents an leave 3 small kids alone in a hotel and go to the restaurant to eat. They easily could have ordered ROOM SERVICE !!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the term " tzar "being used more often in naming US govt agency heads.? For instance, I just read that a new " war tzar" has been named. I think there is also a "drug tzar". The name "homeland" security and " tzar" is starting to give me the creeps. This is not a political question{ I don't think} but rather a question about word choice. They read like terms used in a futuristic science fiction novel. What is going on here?

I was really appalled the time I saw the 100 year old lady getting beat up by that piece of trash and now another elderly person is beat up while people stood around and watched. The 91 year old man was a WW1 veteran and the piece of trash that beat him up already had a record - and was out walking the street instead of dead or in prison for life anyway. I'm sure he will contribute a lot to society. What a society we live in.

How can those people that were just standing there live with themselves? There were a few of them so I'm sure they could have stopped it. Is there something they could get charged with? If I found out who they were, I'd pay money to have their faces and names plastered on billboards and all over the news telling what concerned people they were. Like they show kid's pictures for their birthdays on the news.

But simply a messenger that spoke of the words of God(and Jerry was/is like ALL of us, a walking contradiction...)

Do you know why politicians lie through their teeth? John/Jane Q. Public cannot for the most part handle the truth...

If you didn't like what Jerry had to say(however he came across and "offended"), the message really comes from God, and as a whole, as a nation, looking in the mirror at what and who we REALLY are, is extremely difficult. Just like with real life, darkness hides things...coming out in the light reveals things also.

Your thoughts, please.

Read what Paul D writes about the U.S.A.
Now ask yourself...why does he stay in a place he hates so much?
Is he trying to run for President so he can can the world? Probably not!!! Easier to complain on computer.
My guess is he wont find it better anywhere else and he knows it.
But if he and anyone who agrees w/ him had the balls they would move...maybe to Afganistan...Pakistan...Africa somewhere.

Why do people feel the need to speak out against the war? Do you really think you can do anything about it?
Have we forgotten what happened on 9/11?
They are in our country planning stuff right now. Because we took the fight to them in there country is the reason why the U.S. doesnt have to ration like WWI and WWII. You dont have to move like a refugee to Mexico or Canada. You say "That wouldnt happen." You right. Because the military (me) would take care of them...well we are and LET US DO OUR JOBS. Do you do things HALF-***? We don't.
So anyone thinking they got the right to talk sh@t should take a LONG look in the mirror and ask themselves if they are helping society or just taking up space. I am bettering myself and helping the world be a safer place.

This is the headline on our papers this morning.....

WTF has this got to do with this babes disappearance?

I have read the storey and all they have done is blackened this mans name even further - with no evidence linking him to or mention of Maddy.

What this man does in private with 2 other consenting adults is his own business........
(even if it comes out that he is involved - which I personally doubt - this informtion in the paper is pathetic and has no relevance!)

Is he doing an about face? Does this mean that the US is dependent on Iran to salvage a bit of face-saving stability in Iraq? Why does he think now that Teheran should take a “productive role” in Iraq’s security after a 25-year break in diplomatic relations with them? Are voters recognizing the about-face Bush has done with Iran, and is this apparent to voters? (I'm living in Europe, and don't have on-the-street opinions... except from tourists.)
