WASHINGTON - In a striking reach across party lines, the White House and key lawmakers agreed Thursday on a sweeping immigration plan to grant legal status to millions of people in the country unlawfully.

LOS ANGELES - David Guerra wants to be legal, but he says the path to citizenship offered by the Senate on Thursday would be too risky and too expensive, and could end up driving him deeper into the shadows.

Guerra's wife and children in El Salvador depend on the $300 he sends home each month from his job as a day laborer. Key provisions of the legislation would require him to return home to apply for residency, pay a $5,000 fine and spend thousands more in application fees.

That would be disastrous for his family, he said, and, worse, he's not sure he can trust U.S. immigration authorities who have been rounding up and deporting his fellow immigrants for months.

Wow. That's heavy. Any thoughts?

This bill is an absolute outrage. Are we going to give away our country without indicating how outrageous it is to do so?
No other country does this with it's illegal problem.
Are we supporting a free ride for illegals on our hard earned tax dollars?
Won't this bill being passed encourage even more illegal crossings of our under patrolled borders?

My feeling is he pushed moderate muslims over the edge to become jihadists. All they need to see is the mess that has become of Iraq as a result of Bush' invasion. A few Iraqi bodies in the streets..this of a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 and never once attacked the U.S. Wow..never attacked us yet we kill 100,000 of them...doesnt quite sound right to me. How about to you?

One would think that after Iraq and all he did to get information out and concerns before anyone else, a girlfriend issue took him out? Was this politics at work during an election season? Back in 2003 no one cared about him. They sure do now. President Bush reluctantly accepted his resignation early this evening. ABCnews Charles Gibson.
I request you make this a valid debate not a slash and dash. Thank you.

seems to me that if we trace the information on internet that is posted time tot ime by osma bin laden, we could zero in on just where he is and find him! another thing: if we get visual images of where these terrorist are, then why can't we seem to infiltrate these camps and the places they hide out! seems that we have the technology!

I think it was 55 days initially - then it got cut by half for good "behavior" - I thought you earned good behavior while you are "in" the jail not outside - I just heard she's only going 12 days now - WTF?

And how come she has to go to jail on an "auspicious" date? I thought you are supposed to be taken in the moment the judge lowers his gavel, "Case over".

What's going to be next now? Are they going to live telecast Paris's stint in prison - her weeping, her crying - her "emotions"- maybe other celebrities will take the cue and soon we'll have everyone from Angelina Jolie to Oprah Winfrey breaking laws openly in a reality-TV inspired show "Jail Birds".

Bush keeps terrorists away. I have a rock on my desk and it keeps tigers away from me. I paid $100 for it. And since I got it, no tigers have attacked me. Since 911, there have been no terrorist attacks in the US. So Bush must be doing a great job, just like my tiger proof rock.

My dad said a few interesting things to me yesterday. He said that some tapes that terrorists make and distribute to others almost always are spoken in code. As in, the terrorists are using codes to give messages to eachother and sometimes those messages can be orders to put terroist plans into action. Then he said that when the media gets a hold of tapes of .... let's say Osama Bin Laden speaking they run them almost 24/7 and announce to the people what was said in the tapes. Now lets switch gears a bit....

My dad also brought up one more good point. The main target of terrorism is to create... you guessed it, terror and fear. The kind of terrorists like Osama Bin Laden know that the best thing they could probably do is to get onto American Tv to create that terror and paranoia through their tapes.
