This bill is an absolute outrage. Are we going to give away our country without indicating how outrageous it is to do so?
No other country does this with it's illegal problem.
Are we supporting a free ride for illegals on our hard earned tax dollars?
Won't this bill being passed encourage even more illegal crossings of our under patrolled borders?

We are becoming a third rate country and this will seal it in stone. Amazing that our elected officials are railroading us at our expense for people who are illegal to begin with. A law is a law or so I always had believed in the past.

As I understand it, this bill would only allow 500,000 new immigrants to enter our borders each year from now on. By giving 'amnesty' to the millions of 'illegal immigrants' already here, we turn them into taxpaying citizens who will be expected to obey our laws, who will no longer be "under the radar", and who might become productive citizens of our country.
Since our 'crack' Department of Homeland Security can't even find ONE Osama binLaden (even when offering a $25 million reward), what chance would there be of that government boondoggle (or any other federal agency, for that matter) rounding up 12 million aliens and sending them back home?
One final note: 400 years ago this month, Europeans settled in this country as "illegal immigrants". They proceeded to steal this land from its native American Indians. They eventually bought, sold and traded slaves just as they did all other personal property. As they moved westward, they cleared huge tracts of forest, slaughtered buffalo just for the sport of it, and virtually destroyed the land - something Indians considered to be part of the 'common good" and sacred. Our European ancestors finally moved the Indians onto 'reservations' and limited their right to live off the land as they had for centuries before the "white man" invaded their land.
What gives US the right to complain about "illegal aliens" when almost all of us are descendants of "illegal aliens" who raped the land, massacred the Indians, and - to this very day - give absolutely no thought to how we squander this nation's natural resources. -RKO- 05/17/07

There's 5000 dollar fine. And actually quite a few illegals pay taxes here. They probably have more unpaid tax from millionaires and billionaires who execute elaborate tax schemes.

And what are they gona do with millions of illegal workers? Would you round them up? It'll cost huge amount of money and resources to round them up and deport them.

Why not just have them pay 5000 dollar fine in exchange for having them come out of hiding? And be accounted for.
