Unlike the revolutionary patriots of the United States who stood up and fought for their freedoms, the Iraqi people are having freedom handed to them by a new generation of U.S. heroes. Yet over and over again the Iraqi's have demonstrated they are too timid and fearful to even accept freedom when it is offered for free. Now that they have the opportunity to help find the kidnapped troops, they still cower timidly in fear. Are the Iraqi's just too cowardly to be free?

Not at all. Neither side is.

A poll about a year ago said that Iraqis felt they had more freedom, were better off, and were happier with their political situation than under Saddam's rule.

Now of course the fighting and bombing and whatnot by the opposing sides in Iraq doesn't make them feel safe, but at least they aren't fearing their own gov't anymore.

The ones who send in suicide bombers and try to shoot American troops aren't cowards. The ones who leave hidden bombs or send children in to be blown up are the cowards.

The iraqis who want their freedom and are trying to establish an ordered lawful society aren't cowards. They are however in fear for their life. Change isn't easy and it's often bloody.

I'm sure our own revolutionary patriots sat up a few nights chewing their nails, worried that the british might storm their sleeping quarters at any moment. The new iraqi gov't may feel the same.

Don't let people who want to see everyone dead make you think that everyone is that way. The new iraqi gov't aren't cowards, they're just justifiably deathly afraid.

I have questioned how it is with the US that we have figured out for the most part how to live with multiple ethnicities and not kill each other. I think it has to do with the "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" thing. So many countries around that area fight because they are not considered to be the same group (ie, sunni, shiite) This is not just prevalent in Iraq, this is all over that area, whether it's Palestinian and Jew, or Hutu and Tutsi, or any other civil unrest group. The hatred for people who are the same color is so strong it's sad. Until the civil unrest is stopped, which includes resolving tens, hundreds and even thousands of years of dispute, the Iraqi country will not succeed. The sad part is that if you look at the orphans in Iraq, they are growing up with hatred and prejudice already instilled and confirmed while watching their parents or families die. The US and allies that are in Iraq cannot succeed at stopping prejudice that is this old. Only the Iraqi people coming to the table and deciding that THEY need to make peace, will end the conflict. Unfortunately that is a pipe dream.

I don't think it is cowardice. People are often afraid of what they do not understand. Many of these people have suffered decades of brainwashing.

If the do-gooding US thought they were going to go there and expect everyone to adopt the so called 'American dream' after 2 weeks and a couple of chocolate bars handed out by their armed forces, more fool them.

Easy for you to say while typing on a computer in an air conditioned room.

Are you too cowardly to revolt against a country owned and operated by corporations? A country which maintains its stature through the military industrial complex? A country which only maintains its world dominance through selling military arms around the world? A country that is responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths of innocent men, women, and children in the last 5 years?

You have no idea, so don't claim to.

They don't know how to be free. The only person on earth who was able to keep peace in Iraq was hung. Saddam was put to death because he was accused of killing hundreds of Iraqi citizens. After he was put to death the Iraq's were so happy to be free of him they continued his killing spree. They could have lived in Saddam's many beautiful homes. But in there wisdom they destroyed them. Burned his yacht instead of selling it. Found boxes of his money and hahahaha burned it.lol. This is what American Service men are dying for. But let's make sure Paris goes to jail.

Perhaps they were happy the way it was,and don't want the West's version of freedom imposed on them. For a nation of cowards, they seem to be holding out well agains far better equipped opposition

Are the American people too afraid of sweat to work for their resources rather than stealing them from poor countries like Iraq?
