I don't know about you, but every time I see some news report with some SUV driver whining about gas prices, I want to scream. Your thoughts?

"It doesn't matter what u drive, everyone has a right to complain.... I drive a 4 cylinder car and I complain.. my husband drives a v-6 truck and he complain... Mostly me but oh well... It is not those suv drivers who rose the prices so why dont they have a right to complain just like the rest of us?!?!?!?!?!!?"

Instead of complaining, why don't you do something about it?

""YES ! do,are you people aware that suv's are what families can drive because all those safety child seats will not fit in your itty bitty cars?"

and

"There are 6 of us and sometimes have been forced to take two cars to get everyone in a seat belt."

Your argument makes perfect sense, except for one thing: Station Wagons and "Crossovers," which get the same MPG as a mid size car and can carry seven passengers. Oops.

Just as an example:
http://autos.yahoo.com/kia_rondo_ex_v6/

"are you aware that suv's get basically the same gas mileage as most mid-size cars?"

MPG of a Chevy Tahoe (a "typical" SUV):
15 city/21 hwy
http://autos.yahoo.com/chevrolet_tahoe_ls_4wd/

MPG of a Hyundai Sonata (a "typical" mid size car)
20 city/30 hwy
http://autos.yahoo.com/hyundai_sonata_se_xm/;_ylt=AuxpbcCoy9zGofIyzil1Y_efeb8F;_ylv=3

Thanks for playing. And by the way, the Kia Station wagon I mentioned got 20/27.

On one last note, the average American family has 2 kids. So much for your argument.

They make me laugh. Serves them right. You wouldn't buy a house that was big and looked nice if it turned out it was going to cost you too much in utilities due to poor construction. Why would you buy a car that was going to cost you too much in gas? Definitely don't feel sorry for them.

It's not that I feel sorry for SUV owners but I can relate to their whining. I don't have an over sized vehicle and I whine when I go to the pumps. Everyone knows that this time each year the gas prices go up, it's so predictable, like Xmas & Easter. I know alot of folks have good reasons for buying these vehicle but there are some that its just for the "status". If you can afford it well "great" and if you can't well "stupid". If you can't afford the gas then it's my guess they can't make the payments either. God, what do they need a volkswagon to run them over to understand!!!

Not in the least, especially since most of these people bought the SUV as a status symbol not because they really needed it. I mean I know how rough those winters are in West Palm Beach, FL that Yukon, Escalade, or Hummer's really going to come in handy in the snow down there(cough, cough). BTW I drive a KIA Optima and I whine about gas prices.

we all make choices in life that we are bound to once made I do not feel sorry for suv drivers they knew going in that gas would go up in price and still thought it would come down, in the past that was true until big oil found out that Americans would not change their driving habits even if gas went over three dollars a gallon average

Not only SUV drivers will continue to moan and groan but those riding a moped will be complaining if the price of gas continue to rise.

They get low gas prices by bombing homes in Iraq. You have to pay extra? tough.
