Moore for traveling to Cuba with several ailing Sept. 11 emergency responders to make the argument that Cuba's health care system is superior to the United States'.

Is he right or is he just lost his mind?

In the US no one is denied medical care here. I guarantee even the poorest Americans are getting far better medical services than many Cubans.

Castro is now personally worth approximately $900 million. So when he desperately needed medical treatment recently, he could afford to fly a Spanish surgeon, with equipment, on a chartered jet to Cuba. What does that say about free Cuban health care?

The health care is so good that Castro won't use it. Then, what do you expect from a communist multi-millionaire whose only goal is accumulating all his country's wealth in his own bank account? Equality for everyone? Only one man in Cuba matters.

If it was so wonderful in Cuba, why do people keep on getting onto make shift rafts to escape?

If the Cuban healthcare system is so superior to that of the United States, then why did Castro leave his country for medical treatment?

What's more is the examples of government controled services from Cuba in the past. Why is it that the Cuban people are in total poverty and the government has the best of whatever they want?

Great way to take care of your people Fidel!!!

Does he or anyone else know enough about the state of health care in Cuba to make this assessment? I recall that when the Soviet Union opened up its society a little, we realized how deplorable the state of its health care system was, even though they would brag about it, claiming how Communism allowed everyone to get the same care. So I would tend to doubt what Michael Moore is saying. Then again, I don't take him (nor his counterparts on the right, like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity) very seriously.

It is funny that anti communists always resort to ad hominem attacks rather than respond to the issue. Healthcare in the US is set up to benefit Big Pharma and the public pays for it. Cuba has many problems in healthcare and otherwise. SOme of those problems have to do with the inflexibility of a government under a fascist blockade and other have to do with Castro's failure to create a transparent system. On the other hand, how could Castro make a transparent democratic system under attack from US terrorists?
But let's return to the issue... the US. A country that has made its fortunes stealing foreign resources, the largest GDP in the world and its population has to pay for expensive and deficient health care and higher education.

Cuba spends more of their personal money on health care than the United States does.

You will bereal surprised to know that the US health care program is one of the worst in the world. Watch the movie John Q (Denizel Washington) and you will know. If you dont have money, you die. Thats it.
The US labelled these the Third world countries - supposedly underdeveloped and backward. Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, India, libya, All have free medical for all their citizens. All of them also have free education till college. Libya has free education till PhD if you go that far. They also have free housing and free bread everyday.
So who is calling who backward?

He is right but it's not that impressive.

It is easy to be better than the US healthcare.
canada spends half as much as the US per person, much lower infant mortality, longer lifespan, and covers everyone.

to wizjp...everyone gets healthcare where they live, even if it is terrible. so what is your point?

He did not necessarily lose his mind... I have no doubt that he along with the Cuban gov will make it look like they are getting the best care out there but all it is, is propaganda...
