In an area near my front door, I used to have a ficus tree that we took out because it got too big. There are still geraniums in the same area.

Last year, a fig tree started growing there, and we did not plant it! I just read that a fig tree's root system can spread as much as 50 feet, so I'm concerned it's growing under the house. So far this season, the tree (bush) has gone from about a foot in height and diameter to about 3 feet in height and 5 feet in diameter.

Has anyone had this occur, specifically with fig trees, and what did you do? Should I try to remove it now, or is this something that I'll have to do repeatedly? The fig tree is a much larger tree than a ficus (and a fig is a type of ficus) and I really don't want it growing here.

Hi! I have a small plot in my backyard that is the shape of a half circle. Its about 8x4 9x4 ish. So its not a tiny vegatable garden but its not huge. The straight side of the half circle is also one of the sides that create our sqaure concrete patio. So it comes right off of the concrete almost creating this shape--- [ ]D. I thought a path right through the center surrounded by flowers maybe with stones. But im not in love with the idea. I love colors, i live in in seasonal new jersey and the plot gets a good amount of sun with slight shade from a near by tree. Any ideas would be sooo appreciated, pictures would be beyound helpful. Nothing to extravagant though, im only 16 =]

Thanks!

This plant is supposedly tropical. It has a very large bloom and supposedly reaks more than death when it's open.

I just purchased some dwarf barberry plants, petunias, a burning bush, hostas, and others. I bought very small shrubs for the sole purpose of saving money. How often can I safely put Miracle Grow on my plants without hurting them somehow? I know NOTHING about plants. Thanks for the help!

My mom would like this tree with purple blossoms on it, unfortunatly we don't know what the name of it is, since the frost killed off the blooms before we could look for a blooming one. It is a TREE not a bush or vine. Wisteria can be a tree so I may be that. We have seen the tree around the area, and we live in Northern Ohio. I also know it is not a lilac tree or a cherry blossom tree. What are all the purple blossoming trees?

There is a cultivar (a specific reproducable combination of traits produced through selective breeding ) of a flower of the geneus Osteospermum called "pink whirls". This may be a patented flower, but I am just looking to grow it for private use (or if seeds are not for sale, I would be willing to purchase the live plant, NOT just a cut flower). Does anyone know how I could get this?

Why does the FBI need to keep a secret base on the sun. I mean everytime i look at the sun i see fish crawling on it. I think this is caused by the FBI testing out poisonous fish. I also kept seeing an alligator orbiting the sun in my room. THe sun is in my room and it is in space? How is that? Does anyone else see that or am i just reallly weird?

What kind of spreading plant or spreading vine can I plant on my front hill that will smother out and kill my grass and take over? My hill is steep and I'm getting too old to cut my front lawn. It is extremely hard. I want that grass gone but it is about 200 feet long of grass and about 10 feet up the hill. I planted crowne vetch and this did not work. What will work? I want something that will kill the grass and I won't have to dig up the grass and move it somewhere else. Is there such a thing? Myself and my back would appreciate your answers. Thanks.

I would like to plant grass seed. I can't rake the soil because it is rather hard. I heard there are aerator spikes that you put over your shoes and walk on the grass. It is supposed to make holes in the ground so the seeds go in and it aerates the lawn at the same time. Has anyone used these and do they work well?
