My girlfriends dad planted this tree 3 years ago and after I moved in I started to make it my pet project because it was so badly taken care of. I now have it growing and blooming. The only problem is that it is so leggy and i cant get it to sprot very much new growth. It is 6ft high trunk about 5/8in dia and only has 2 limbs coming off top about 6in long with new growth and blooms. I love this tree but i want to know what I can do to help it become the tree i know it can become. Please help me.

How can you tell when a flower has "outgrown" its pot and needs to be put in a larger one. Also, how exactly do you do it?

Even if I put a fence around it the dog will not leave it alone. If it were up to me I would get rid of the dog, but it is my daughters and she would get upset.

I have sheets covering them now (it's all I had to work with!) but will this help at all? The cold temperatures and snow are expected to last for another 3-4 days!

We have a water feature in our yard that was installed by the property's previous owners. It consists of a 10x10ft plastic lined pond that is about 1 foot deep, plus a 2.5 foot deep hard plastic shell in the center with a fountain in it. We can't maintain the feature, and are afraid it will become a major algae and mosquito liability. What is the best way to remove the water feature? Should we just fill in the whole area with soil and let the water evaporate from the resulting mud?

The weather was great for weeks and so I planted tomatoes in a planter (moveable) and now the weather is predicted to drop to freezing at night. There are several flowers on it now. Should I bring the plants inside until the weather changes?? Thanks for any help.

The house is in Westchester County, NY. When should I apply fertilizer and should I apply a weed and feed or just straight fertilizer at this point?

Any recommendations for brand/type of fertilizer?

The lawn is in a mostly sunny location (ie. not much shade during the day).

Thanks!

I have a strip of earth between the edge of my patio and a panel fence about 6 metres long and about 100mm wide. I would like to plant all along it and was wondering what would be nice plants to mix so that we get some colour from spring through to the end of the summer. I dont know that much about gardening and fancied buying some aubretia but they alone will only flower april to may. I am on a tight budget so ideally i would like to know plants that are very common so that i could pick them up cheaply. The area gets direct sun for a couple of hours in the morning and is then in shade, it is sheltered from the wind.I live in southern england. Thanks for your help

The temp is supposed to drop to near freezing this weekend, how do I protect my garden? It's been in the 70's and 80's since Feb here, so I planted my garden thinking it would be safe. I have 2 tomato plants, 2 pepper plants, some herbs, and a bunch of green bean plants. It's only going to be bad Sat and Sunday, and not a real hard freeze, lows are supposed to be about 32. Can I just throw a plastic drop cloth (thin plastic) over the plants? Any ideas are appreciated.
