My girlfriends dad planted this tree 3 years ago and after I moved in I started to make it my pet project because it was so badly taken care of. I now have it growing and blooming. The only problem is that it is so leggy and i cant get it to sprot very much new growth. It is 6ft high trunk about 5/8in dia and only has 2 limbs coming off top about 6in long with new growth and blooms. I love this tree but i want to know what I can do to help it become the tree i know it can become. Please help me.

hopefully, you planted it well away from the house or any structure and/or driveway

those roots, you call legs, are surface runners and can
cause concrete to break, if I remember right

will also need to be fertilized as it will steal the nutrients from the ground - and grass will become scarce

best of luck
