Lavender is a family of some 25- 30 plants native to the western half of the Mediterranean and Africa. These plants will not survive damp winter rains without excellent drainage or summer humidity without good air circulation and lots of sun. Even partial afternoon shade can cause lavender to grow sideways as it reaches for the sunlight.

Lavendar wants lots of sun. It also does not like wet feet. Lavendar is definately not a shade plant. As for your lists of flowers and sun/shade tolerance...just go online an order seed/plant catalgos from Burpee, Gurnee, Springhill, Seeds of change (any seed catalog you can think of.) They all have places on their sites where you can order their catalog. They are a wealth of information. They list many flowers and plants and will give you the sun/shade tolerance of all of them, plus you usually get a good picture of what the plant looks like. These catalogs are invaluable and are mini-gardening reference books and are free. You might even find good deals on plants you want to buy.
