im not talking about those real real real obviously fake, ugly bright green grass. im talking about those fake grasses that look actually real and have different tones of green to make it seem more realistic. so my question is, what have been your experiences with it? what were the advantages and disadvantages of having them? i mean i can imagine myself laying on it not having to worry about ants crawling up my hair or dirt getting on me, i know they are pretty costy, but were there any good and bad points of it?

I have red potatoes and russet potatoes and I cannot figure out when to pull them out of the ground. Some flowers are about to bloom on the plants but does that mean anything?

These plants will be for a flower bed in front of existing bushes. I would prefer if these plants would have a restrictive spread so that thining is not required.

I know zilch about gardening, but I'd like to plant and grow some flowers -- the kind that are for cutting, so I can have fresh flowers available to put in my home or give to others whenever I like. The more colorful and the larger variety, the better! What should I begin with?

I live in central Florida -- figured my geographic location would be helpful. :)

Thanks!

I had a good crop last year, my first time of growing beans. I can't understand why the flowers are dropping. Otherwise, they are growing well and lots of flowers are forming.

About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that a medium-sized branch on my potted lemon tree had torn 2/3 through. The weight of an unripe lemon (which has since been removed), together with gusts of wind, probably caused the damage. To save the branch, I splinted it with toothpicks, wrapped it in masking tape and then with strips of horticultural fleece. To my astonishment, this very branch is showing leaf buds! Is it then possible that the tear will mend, i.e. knit together like a broken bone? It seems like this might be the case, but what do you think?

I just built a raised bed and filled it with generic topsoil mixed with planting mix from a local garden center. I planted a couple tomato plants, cantelope, peppers and eggplant (transplanted from plants bought at a garden center), plus beans and corn from seed. At first everything looked great, but after a month, it hasn't really grown, the beans are turning yellow and leaves are dropping, the corn is still only a few inches tall and a few plants died, the tomatoes have a couple fruit each, but the bottom leaves are yellowing, and eggplant and peppers are also losing bottom leaves. The pepper set a couple peppers, but they fell off. The cantelope looks like a mini vine and is more yellow than green as well. The plot gets full sun almost the entire day (southern exposure), I water 2-3 times a week, and digging down a couple inches, the soil seems the correct wetness. I've also been fertilizing (10-15-10). The temp has been 70's to 80's. This is in southern Calif.

If I want to use the cloth, like everyone has suggested, (thanks BTW). What is a good product to put on the grass to kill it all, BEFORE I install the cloth, then spread the mulch. I have weedwacked the grass very short but thought it might be better to kill it before the install. Thoughts??? Thanks everyone :)
