I had a good crop last year, my first time of growing beans. I can't understand why the flowers are dropping. Otherwise, they are growing well and lots of flowers are forming.

This type of bean is very susceptible to blossom drop. The prolonged hot weather will cause this problem. Don't fertilize them. They don't need a lot of fertilizer in the soil; and they do grow better in cooler weather. Runner beans, especially red-flowered ones, don't produce as many beans as they do flowers.

Next year plant a few matches under the seed. I think the sulphur helps with blossom drop. It did on my pepper plants.
