I have red potatoes and russet potatoes and I cannot figure out when to pull them out of the ground. Some flowers are about to bloom on the plants but does that mean anything?

Different potatoes, different answers. I've gathered several new potatoes from plants that hadn't even bloomed yet. However, if you want full grown potatoes, the rule is that you dig them up after the plant has died back.

i was told that it was when they bloom, but when i dug mine up (blooming away) there was nothing.
