Where I used to live in Montana there were these pretty purple long stemmed flowers growing in a vacant lot next door. They bloomed midsummer every year and they smelled so nice. They weren't really lilacs but an older neighbor lady told me that the old timers called them german lilacs. I sometimes see them here in Minnesota growing wild in abandoned homesites. Does anyone have an idea of what their real name could be? Thanks for any suggestions that you might have.

We are moving into a new house. I have selected dark brown cabinets, beige countertops and a browny beige ceramic tile. I also want to put a mirrorred backsplash. Not sure if I should go with a copper or plain mirrored backsplash. Do you think the kitchen colours will look nice together or boring?

we have the laundry room right next to the lower level bathroom, no matter what water (except the washer) we run, it backs up into the shower through the drain, bring with it some nasty tagalongs and a very unpleasant smell. no matter where the water comes from, it just kicks back up into the tub, once more, except the washer, we've snaked the main pipe going out to the septic tank, and poured every chemical you can think of to unblock it, the more we use, the more it seems that it isnt a block. about a year ago, we had to get a new septic tank, the old one was over 30 years old and fell apart, and thats about when this started acting up, were looking for as many answers that doesn't mean tearing up our lawn more than it has already been, the grass has just grown back. so please, if you have any suggestions, id appreciate them, thank you.

I taped down some plastic to protect the beige carpet whilst contractors were working there.
Pulled up the plastic 4-7 days later and found that the red Tuk tape left red in the carpet.
What is the best chemical to remove the red? I have tried odorless paint thinner- it does it somewhat. Just wondered if there was something more effective than "varsol".
Anybody have any experience with this?

I hired a contractor to put and addition on my house. They can't keep a schedule, never have the guys to do the work. This job was supposed to be done by now and they didn't even start until June 20. What is your worst contractor nightmare?

I washed a load of laundry with a dress that ran all over everything. Now anything that had ANY white in it is pink. I've since washed the clothes with hot water and tide w/ oxyclean. They are still pink. What can I do?

Im in college, and just moved into a new house with some roomates.
The only windows are found in the bedrooms, and the front hallway and living room always feel stuffy and smelly, even though I try to keep the area clean.
What can I do to help air it out and make it smell better? Keep in mind that there aren't any windows around there.

I have a Glade plug in but that only makes everything smell more funky.

In a rush this morning I was emptying my car from the night before and set our Windex bottle on the wood stairs. 12 hours later I discovered the bottle had leaked, and there is now a "ring" on the stairs. It almost looks discolored on part of it, that may be from the blue of the Windex.

But what can I do, help...

I would like some help with decorating my new room. Im a student renting a room in a house. The room is large, is fairly well light and has high ceilings. The one problem with the room is its hideous dark terracotta carpet which i cant get rid of since Im only renting (I may be able to cover it up with large rugs if worst comes to worst!). I have looked around but can find nothing to go with the carpet and Im pretty clueless when it comes to matching things up. This room is pretty much empty apart from a bed and a Built in pine (I think?) wardrobe and it has cream coloured walls so Im open to colour suggestions so I can buy some new furniture and bed sheets.

Im a 19 y/old male and i was hoping for a light coloured room with natural colours.

I'd really appreciate any help you could offer with this. Thanks

My A/C runs non-stop all day & I don't know why. When I took the cover to the thermostat off, there's some kind of dial underneath the says "longer cycles" and has numbers like .3, .25, .2, .15, 1., .5, ... etc.... there is an arrow resembling a clock hand on the dial that can be moved around as well... any idea as to what this all means, and whether it has anything to do with the A/C running non-stop.
