My neighbors call all the time and come over to bang on the door when I'm screening my calls........They always want me to watch their house while they're gone, water plants, watch their dog etc.......What can I say to make it stop?

People used to be communities and asked each other for things a lot. So, you can either shut them off or you can turn it around and ask THEM for favors. Borrow sugar from them. Borrow their lawn tools. Ask them if they can come over and help you paint your house. This will either make it a good thing for you as well as them, or they will run for the hills and stop asking things of you.

You dont have to answer the door or the phone. But most importantly you are going to have to learn to say no! You don't need to tell them why, just a plain no, not this time. Maybe tell them the name of a good kennel for their dog, or a house sitting service.

Find the names of several pet sitters who will come and feed the animals and do little things like water plants, etc. Hand the sheet to your neighbor and say, "We aren't available, try these people."

People who continually go the the well asking favors eventually come up dry. Time to shut their spigot off.............

Tell them that you are going somewhere and you won't be around. Do this a few times and they should get the hint.

I would tell them if it's worth doing then it's worth getting paid for. You are going to have to be just as rude as they obviously are.
