I really like the blackout feature on roller shades. But I rent and will be moving soon. I don't want to spend the money on blackout roller shades for my kids' bedrooms, especially since I have to have them custom made for their windows. Does anyone have any good ideas for alternatives? I don't want blankets, etc. hanging on their windows. Any ideas?

It was very long/big, yellow and black striped back, not fuzzy, and was in the woods burrowed about an inch in the ground.I live in North East Maryland. I have been clearing some woods behind my house, not the big trees, but my dog was digging and found it. Luckily she didn't get stung.

I bought a new thermostat recently and hooked it up. I know the wiring is correct because I checked the wires all the way back to the furnace. The furnace is working, but the air conditioner will not turn on even though the wiring should be correct. I checked the filter, and that is clean. The only other option suggested to me was that maybe the thermostat wasn't compatible with my furnace/air conditioner. How do I know I'm getting the correct thermostat? I checked the manuals, and they don't say anything about a specific thermostat needed. The new thermostat I have didn't have any specifications that I noticed (as in: Only use with certain voltage of furnace/certain brand, ect.) How can I tell?

I bought a new home two years ago. I have wall-to-wall carpet in most of the house. Though I vacuum my carpet everyday and deep clean it once a month, the carpet is starting to get smashed down and doesn't "fluff" back up when I clean it. Now, this is in areas of high traffic. How can I make my carpet "fluff" back up, and not look so worn down? Any tricks??

i've been watching a load of "How Clean is Your House?" (in england) and i've notice most of the people on the show have a bucket in their sink that they wash their dishes in. and i remembered seeing some friend's grandparents use a bucket/bin/tub in their sink. i thought maybe something was wrong with their sink at the time but i guess alot of people do it...why?

I just recieved a Bonsai Tree Garden kit and have no idea what to do with it. It came with a booklet but its so confusing talking about the different types of seeds and everything. It says to put in this little tub and soak the leaves in a saucer and put it in a warm place then in like 2 months you can plant it? Is this true? What do I do? It came with a plastic tub of seeds..a tera cotta pot and potting soil. Ive tried looking up information but its all so confusing and different. I just need a few tips on how to get started. Thanks so much!

I've looked them up but don't know what kind they are. They die back to the ground in the winter but come back every year. What I've seen online says they should be single or double but I have one that has 5 flowers growing on one stalk. Some of the flowers are as big as my hand. And white and pink grow from the same plant (not the same stalk though) Besides figuring out how to stake them up better, what else do I do? I haven't done anything to care for these and are considering moving them as well. I'm awfully curious as to what exactly they are as well.http://new.photos.yahoo.com/erin_bridgette/album/1152921504631980230
