okay I live in florida and I have the same problem all the time use cayene pepper it works on most pests and then get your self a plastic garden owl they work . just remember to sprinkle the cayene pepper every where . it works . good luck .

Call your local agricultural center and find out, I'll bet there is a type of plant that they hate that would keep them out.
You can also get traps and release them elsewhere.
I would shy away from poisons or just flat out killing them, this is a temporary solution and may lead to a worse situation.

Its kinda wrong but if you can shoot them. Just kidding You might be able to try like moth balls or somthing strong that they will probablt not like
