Besides, or in addition to, buying expensive home protection systems, what kind of things are legal inside your home to trip up/capture/ intruders. Are there non-lethal booby-traps that are legal?

The average estimates are about $1,000 to have it done. I was just wondering if it is something my husband and I could do ourselves(without killing ourselves!)

In my HDB flat's kitchen, there is a foul smell which seems to be coming from the drainage on the floor right under my kitchen sink.

The sink has been leaking and so the floor is often wet. The leaked water goes to the opening of the drainage there.

Q1: Who would be the best people to call to solve the problem?

Q2: And if I were to solve it myself, what should I do?

This is on a 6' high fince that runs about 75' on a downward slope. My contractor did this and just put L brackets on the side. He says it will last - but we're in an area of high winds and I'm concerned as it already has some give. Not sure how to remedy it since he's basically done. any suggestions?

In late fall we had an extreme warm spell that caused our plants to start blooming, then it went back to freezing temperature. At that time the rose tree was sprouting about 10 new branches, but now we only have one new branch only 3 inches long. We got this plant last year and we are in the correct zone for it (in state of PA). Is there anything we can do for the tree? It was blooming beautiful last year until it came time to prune it for winter.

I got up this morning and to my surprise.....no water. I knew it was primed, but I checked it anyway and it was primed. I am getting power to the outlet that the pump is plugged into. What else could it be? Did the pump go out? It had been making alot noise before like it was having trouble pumping, could it have burned out? What solutions do I have? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm looking at buying a house, but the tiles in the bathroom are apparently spongy when you press on them.. ie, they sink in, but come back out.
Any idea what this could be?

I live in Florida and saw a roach "Palmetto bug" on my kitchen floor for the first time and am ready to blow the place up. It was huge. Consider I have a Maltese dog too and don't want to harm her in the process of waging WW3 on these bugs. Could it have been just a stray? Or is there more? Like I said lived in the house for 5 years and this is the first one I have ever seen. Help!

I've got a cold water storage tank in the loft - so maybe all the cold water taps are fed from the tank. Maybe from the mains. Is there an easy way to tell? e.g How much liters per mintue can you expect to flow out of a gravity fed tap vs a mains fed tap? Can I use this to work out if all the cold water taps are mains fed?

I have a house ant problem. Yesterday, I came home and found that a burger had apparently fallen out of my freezer when I opened it last--and it was covered in hundreds of ants! Through the use of Fantastik! and cleaning the kitchen really well, there's much fewer now. . . but how to get rid of them without hurting my cat? Many of the remedies I've seen say you have to find the source--this is not an option. There is no window in this room. I just want to get rid of the little buggers. Advice? Thanks.

We just purchased a leather couch that is a light taupe color. It has some green undetones to it. We had planned on painting the walls a shade of green, but I am afraid the green walls would make the couch look even more green. We have wood flooring that is oak. Any advice on a color to paint the walls, or maybe even two colors. Thanks :)

I have impatiens planted in hanging baskets, hanging in my screened porch. While the leaves are still there and looking healthy, all the blooms are gone and no more are budding.

Impatiens I bought on the same day in the same store are blooming out front, in the shade in window boxes.
