Nothing will work. You will have to replace carpet, pad, and maybe underlayment. If you have homeowners' insurance, submit a claim to the insurance company.

Try using plain old brown Lysol, this may help. I had the same problem about a year ago. I had to pull everything out and put fans in to dry it out. After everything was dry I used the Lysol to clean everything then had to repaint the walls around my washer with Kilz you find it at any paint store and it seals the walls and kills all the mold spores. If your linoleum is starting to bubble then it will need to be pulled up and replaced. Before you do anything major try the Lysol and the kilz.

Good luck.

Yuck!

By now, your carpet is probably infested with mold and mildew. A professional cleaner MIGHT be able to help. But I doubt it, and it would probably be far simpler- and more effective- to rip out the carpet and padding. Sounds icky, I know.

Sorry Crazygirl, gotta rip it out. If it has been more than a week and it sounds like it has it may not be savable. If you think it is savable you will still have to pull up the carpet and use bleach and fans.

Rent a steam cleaner, use hot tap water, and a little bit of laundry soap liquid. After cleaning it really good, use fans to dry it up really well. Repeat if necessary,LOL!

A woman posted a question about an overflowed toilet.
Read the answer. It is right up your alley.
